September 11th restock of IRL distribution centers.

That restock date is from before they were discontinued - unlikely to go ahead now (from what I was told by manager of Dun Laoghaire Argos)

Might want to doublecheck if buying from the German Amazon marketplace sellers that keyboards are normal QWERTY , not ZWERTY if thats important to you.

No, they are not QWERTY, they are QWERTZ.

Ya if you select english language options in the OS then the keys will corrispond to qwerty in software...though not physically. A moderate pain if your really desperate to get one and always look at your keys before you press I guess.

I'm sure you can pop the keys off and switch them around?

I have been following this thread but may have missed 100 pages or so! So for the Argos buyers... did anyone get one w/o a reservation? Was the idea just queue up and hope for the best? I assume most who got one had a reservation already before the price drop (which I decided not to do for some reason). If there is new stock coming will that just be for those with reservations... or will they open it up for new reservations.... or will they make us queue in misery while every employee snags one?

Yeah and argos deleted the 16gb of their site and expansys are putting the 32gb one back up....looks like those with 32gb are in with more of a chance
Looks like something is going on with the 32Gb models. Also saw someone tweeting that their order status had changed.

Just passing on what was sent to me. Its all swings and roundabouts. We all want them. Any glimmer of news and there is a frenzy. Maybe its game over. Maybe not. I remember Ken Blacks doing the old Game Boy for £25 pound back in the day. There was stampeding in Portlaoise at the time. At least there aint been any punch ups yet as we are fighting for stock we cant see or touch. (Jesus im in waffle mode)

    Here is the email:

    Dear Sir/Madam,

    Subject: Reference number xxxxxxxx.

Thank you for your e-mail regarding catalogue number 508/6050, Hp Touchpad.

I am sorry that you have been unable to make your purchase.

I can confirm that we are due to receive stock into our warehouse on the 11th September, which then can take up to 14 days to arrive into our store.

I do apologise for any inconvenience you have been caused.

Should you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us at order.enquiries@argos.co.uk or call us on 0845 640 3030.

    Regards,

    xxxxxxxx

Just to help clarify this Sept 11th restock debate at Argos:
    - None of the touchpads delivered/allocated in the past two days to Argos stores/customers were showing on their stock systems as it was already preallocated to orders i.e. no stock was going to be available to be ordered.
    - The Sept 11th is an expected date of a delivery placed with HP for all the thousands of orders they received on Sunday/Monday plus some more - hence why it is showing as a restock date.
    - Though I am still touchpadless myself and I'd like to believe this order will be delivered (even though I still have no reservation code) I can't see the Argos order to HP being met. Perhaps best case scenario is that some stock will come and it will be allocated to preorders - and judging by the 16GB being removed from the site then I'd say the order is only made up of 32GB models

Ive never own a pre3, but from the looks of it that keypad is one whole rubber/plastic unit, you'd have to dissasemble the phone to replace it with another qwerty keypad. (AN easy job if you can find the qwerty keypad part)

    Wrong thread bro.

Does anyone have any more reports of stock? Soooo many posts unrelated to what everyone is really here to find out.

Got this reply from Argos earlier today, so now I am totally confused:
    Dear Sir/Madam,

    Subject: Reference number xxxxxxxx

Thank you for your e-mail regarding stock availability of the HP Touchpad - Wifi 16GB; catalogue number 508/6043 and the HP Touchpad - Wifi; catalogue number 508/6050.

I am sorry to read that you have been unable to check stock availability of either of the above items via the internet or our check and reserve system. I can confirm that due to increase in demand and drop in reduction in price we have removed the ability to reserve either item in store.

I can confirm that as HP have discontinued both models we will not be receiving any more stock in the future. I can see my that one of my colleagues has advised you we will be receiving more stock. This was due to a system error which gave us incorrect information and I apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Should you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us at order.enquiries@argos.co.uk or call us on 0845 640 2020.

    Regards,

    Michael XXXXXX
Argos Direct E-Commerce Customer Service Team.

For your reference the above reply is in reference to your earlier email XXXXXX:

From a reliable source I've been told their intranet system is a bit slow in some shops and broadcast messages sometimes show up hours after their sent or sometimes not noticed by anyone...probably the reason behind some of the confusion.

How so? If anything, they've tried the hardest to fulfill their orders...

Good news for those who ordered a 32 GB Touchpad We were able to finally get the stock required for orders placed on availability can still be honored.
Regarding the touchpad 16 GB, unfortunately we can not fulfill orders. However, if excess Touchpad 32 GB, we will get back to you next week for you to benefit primarily, if desired.
    :):)

Does this count for 'Subject to Availability' though?

    Will this story never end...

    16. Ordered when it was showing available.

Cannot get through to either of the customer service lines either.

The Palm Pre 3 is very hard to get, might end up being more valuable than the touchpad, so i wouldnt go offering extra cash as well, just swap at the price paid and the difference

Yep, its directly related to those who ordered in 'Subject to Availability' status for 32GBs
