    I don't think those rather small drives are particularly good value, but a similar (160GB) disk is also available at amazon.

    When they're powered from USB, they're great value - as opposed to buying maybe a 16gb usb stick for the same price.

    Yes, that's true. But if you want to buy a hdd anyway you could easily get one with four times the capacity for just £10 more (example here) which would be a lot more useful in the long term.

    P.S. I didn't realize that the one in the original post was 1.8" as opposed to the 2.5" in my link. So it really is a nice and small one :) Sorry for the confusion...
