so how many other people in Ireland managed to get an Argos reservation that lasted for only 1 day and now that the deal is on my reservation has expired :(

why couldn't I have been like ye all and got reservations over the weekend :(

Include your phone no. in the email

Probably not much point in putting your phone number in.. unless they'll gladly make international calls and / or you're fluent in French.

I had a next day COB reservation, this short reservation meant it was in stock and ready for collection, which it was.

did you get a confirmation email ?

    Dear XXXX,
Thank you for your recent order for the HP Touchpad. As you will have no doubt seen in the news there was extremely high demand for this product both at Dabs.ie and at other retailers with stock selling out in a matter of minutes.

Whilst our website was showing stock when you placed your order we are afraid that due to the speed at which customers were placing orders our website was not always showing an accurate stock level. We have tried very hard to secure more stock but due to the high nationwide demand we have been unable to do so. We are therefore very sorry but we will be unable to fulfil your order on this occasion. Please accept our most sincere apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause you but rest assured that we have tried our very best to obtain more stock.

What do you need to do?
We do not need you to do anything. We will shortly be cancelling your order and can confirm that payment has not been taken for this order. Please be advised that as we have no further stock our customer services team will be unable to change the status of your order. To avoid further disappointment please refrain asking them to do so.

We are very sorry to have to disappoint you on this occasion but do very much hope that you will return to Dabs in the future.

    Kind Regards
    dabs.ie

Please note: We realise that this may be very disappointing but from a legal standpoint a contract does not exist between either party until your order has been accepted and delivered.
dabs.ie is part of dabs.com Plc, Registered in England

Well, you've lost me as a customer for life dabs.

Just spoke to the bank - they said that 112 euro has been requested by FNAC and payment is pending on the bank of ireland side of things.

As I dont know how the inner workings of a bank go, the 'pending' part is keeping me from jumping with joy. Not sure if FNAC have requested the money from everyones card though, so not making me feel as special as I should!!

:( Sorry to hear that. Seems like mine should be dispatching soon according to the dabs guy on Twitter. Hoping it does.

my order with them is pending with paypal - perhaps there are different reasons it could be pending.

FNAC have said it means your "Touchpad" has been requested from the supplier..

.. they don't have stock readily available.

Chances of getting it = slim to none unfortunately!

Same here, the money transfer has been 'pending' since my order went from 'waiting for bank confirmation' (in french) to 'ordered' on the Fanc order page.
Fraid all that means is that they're 'booked' the money and will take it if and when they send you one....

Ninja edit - I've paid by Paypal

same here with the payment reserved...but it simply means that they have reserved the money in case they send you the order....nothing to get excited about...

I doubt we will get anything from FNAC

There is huge demand for €99 high quality tablets.

Then again, there'd be huge demand for €99 luxury cars as well.

Selling a high quality tablet for €99 and making a profit is simply impossible.

Correct- they are loosing €206 per tablet.
Its not in their interests to supply any more than are in the chain, it doesn't make economic sense to do so.

at this stage, it looks like if you (like me  ) don't have one in your grubby mits you're not getting one. (this week)
As near as I can tell my (and the rest of us) chances on getting one depend on:
    1. Ebay/Adverts.ie in a few months once the hype has died down and the gougers get sick of them.
    2. HP having a warehouse full of unsold stock to get rid of. (I think its likely that they have more stock to get rid of, but its a bit more dodgy where they choose to get rid of it)
    3. The most unlikely one - I have an argos reservation number for the 31st till the 3rd. Argos being a big operation may have more stock in central warehouses waiting to ship out (a fact hinted at by what some people were told by argos staff)
Either way I would expect this not to have played out until the end of next week.

Now I just have to resist the temptation to blow that €150 or so on something else and be forced to eat canned beans off my touchpads for the rest of the month:D

[*]Ebay/Adverts.ie in a few months once the hype has died down and the gougers get sick of them.
probably most likely - imagine alot of folk bought them to sell on - already know one guy offering me his for 300 smackers - laughed and told him to get lost.

Who buys a €99 tablet for €200 let alone €300?

Looks like I'm not going to get one, was wondering about this one http://www.komplett.ie/Komplett/product/ZKB_02TAB/01_TABLETS/productdetails/80002934/Yarvik_7_Tablet_TAB211_4GB/TAB211/default.aspx

Seems poor vs the HP one but worth the €99 asking price????
