You can get a 7" Android Tablet from Dealextreme with 256MB RAM, a crappy ARM11 CPU, 2 hour battery life and a resistive touch screen in the price bracket.

    with poor tn screen

Cancel I don't think they are honoring the price drop and will sell it to you at full price
Only if he chooses to pay full price. At worse case, he can return it under the distance selling regulations.

Is there Argos stock left anywhere? I can't afford an iPad or Zoom, but would love a tablet for general browsing.

Nook color for around the €200 mark is pretty good. Easy to root it and put a full android install on there. Great capacative touch screen and SD card slot.

If anyone has a reservation code or an extra Touchpad that they want to sell for slightly above cost then i'd be extremely grateful.

If it helps, I occasionally dabble with Android kernels and will assist the Touchdroid project in any way I can. The main reason I want one is to work on getting it to run Android, i'm sort of a fanatic.

If anyone has multiple orders and gets one from expansy, and has a left over Argos preorder in Limerick, I'd be more than happy to take it off their hands. :P

I might look into that if I don't manage to get a touchpad.

I'm wondering about Amazon - I have an order there, but still saying they'll advise shipping info... its back up at £249 for 16GB one, and showing 10 left... if I have an order can they justifiably cancel if when there is stock (amazon is sell in both cases)?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40 mess78

Maybe fnac did get more stock. Not going to risk an order at that price though. More, than hp originally sold it for. Its a great deal at 99 its a pretty meh deal at 600.

I'm hoping as they shift out more product next week that some of these placed orders we're waiting on will get fulfilled.

Folks, another unlucky boardsie here, would like to appeal to any of you fortunate enough to get sorted in some way and have either a spare pad to sell on or a now surplus to requirements argos code that you or your family members are not using - i would be extremely grateful of any benevolent soul among you.

    Cheers

Its a marketplace seller - the FNAC website is similar to amazon.com, not all products are offered directly by FNAC

Yeah thats cool, I got your reply, to be honest I will be surprised if I get either at the moment, my argos reservation code is for Liffey Valley, but instead of being instantly valid, it was for collection between friday and tuesday, so wondering how that happened as I ordered it while it was still in stock and there was no option, just took the dates I was given, def has a reservation number though so counting on that, got texted it and its in the email.

    Super hope one comes through!

Looks like they are talking about America for the touchpads.

The good folks over at UKHotdeals have noticed that the Argos "text for price" service now returns a price of 89/115 quid

Well I have "command in preperation" so hope to God thats a good sign. What about everyone else?can you post a link to their twitter??

Have the same as you. Bit confused if I'm guaranteed to get one now! It says ''command in preparation'' = ordered from supplier. Card has also been charged...still sceptical!

Has there been any success with amazon.co.uk orders? This thread has almost doubled since I left and if I missed out on some vital info. like: "Amazon never had any when they dropped their prices", I'd appreciate it if someone could let me know. Well done to everyone that was successful, its been epic!

From this link it doesn't look promising:

    AMAZON ORDERS
I've just got off the phone to Amazon. You can ring them yourselves and they will offer the same information.

Last night, they had a small stock which some few people managed to receive. The people with "no delivery estimate" have NO stock allocated to their order. We have merely preordered the product for when it becomes available next. She also confirmed however, that Amazon are in communication with HP and their suppliers to receive more stock. "If or when new stock becomes available, customers who ordered the item last night but are showing "no delivery estimate" are first priority." The next shipment of items will be reserved for those people like ourselves if they can get stock at all.

Not available in T1 at Dub airport unfortunately.

Hopefully Argos honour the reservations now. Argos' system is usually fairly reliable, I've never gotten a code that they haven't honoured. Also they were fairly quick to say "out of stock" in most places which suggests that they didn't take a horde of orders that they couldn't fulfill. Have one ordered from Fnac as well but judging by their Twitter it doesn't look too promising.

    Fingers crossed anyway!!

I'd be highly optimistic about amazon orders. They have extremely good customer service and I'd say they'll be busting their balls to fulfil all orders. Bear in mind they'll also have a long-standing working relationship with HP that HP will want to continue, so they'll be able to lean on HP for some extra stock.

    Hey guys,

I've been having a problem with the web browser on the touchpad. Each time I open the browser I cannot carry out a search as I can't choose my default browser and there is non selected. I have to navigate to Google through my bookmarks. Is this normal for everybody?
