Car tax when buying a second hand car

hey all, finally found a car, the tax is expired on it since the start of the month, whats the story with taxing it? i presmume i must wait till i get the log book back and the car is in my name, is that right? ps is a private sale, not dealer

As long as you've enough information to fill in the form you should have no issues taxing it in the local office
