Think you are right.Ebay will be the only option when this chaos go away and they go for sensible prices.

I still have the £89.00 on Amzon but looks like that could go the same route.
    Also have an Argos reservation.
If lucks goes your way with the Amazon order could I have your Argos reservation?

I'm an occasional Android Kernel developer and i'll probably attempt to help out in the Touchdroid project if that gives me any preference :P

My order on FNAC is still at "Order Preparation" and haven't received any further emails from them despite ringing and emailing them today.

    I'm in the same boat.

I think for most people on boards last nite who ordered it said subject to availability 4-12 days or something like that beside it when they ordered it. i know it did for me anyway.

Me too. I was quite late ordering from FNAC last night, about 9.30pm, but I definitely spotted the mention of 4-12 days on the product page. It was either just below or above the Buy (or whatever it was in French) button.

Has there been any success with amazon.co.uk orders? This thread has almost doubled since I left and if I missed out on some vital info. like: "Amazon never had any when they dropped their prices", I'd appreciate it if someone could let me know. Well done to everyone that was successful, its been epic!

Have one on order. Status is:

delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date. You can cancel at any time.

It took me half an hour to get my order through on FNAC last night. Not holding out much hope to be honest. They must have got a shedload of orders.

Lets face it lads, there must have maybe 1000 of these in Ireland tops, judging by how much stock vendors had, if that, its not a huge market and I doubt HP ever hoped to sell that many up front. I also bet tonnes were siphoned off by people in retailers, people close to retailers in business etc. The fact that sites like elara listed having had a couple of thousand in stock wasn't really helpful (A situation that was to be fair realistic before HP created this massive run on them).

I reckon the best bet now is to wait a couple of weeks and see if you can get it off a tout on ebay. I'm hoping theres going to be a few people caught rotten with tonnes of these they can't shift when the frenzy dies down and people realise its a discontinued product and the early android ports dont turn out to be all that.

The Touchpad is s rare as Hen's Teeth it seems
1930 Update : Presently, there is no stock anywhere in the UK. Only Argos and Amazon seem to have significant amount of the Touchpad left. Amazon currently has the 16GB model for £249 while Argos is still selling the tablet for £350. All the 28 or so other UK and European retailers we've looked at have either no stocks or have pulled the Touchpad altogether from their product listing.

You won't find any retailer still selling it at around €99..

.. they're all out-of-stock / discontinued / gone up in price drastically since.

When do the Argos reservations start to lapse and they become open to everybody again?

Update on hotukdeals relating to Amazon. Basically if you haven't a estimated dispatch date, then no stock is allocated to your order. See here:

Yeah, that's what I assumed from the "no despatch date" alright.

Was personally never under any the impression there was stock reserved.

apology bull from Misco from their facebook page

    An apology from Misco.co.uk
.by Misco.co.uk on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 7:09pm.Today we received an unprecedented volume of traffic to our website in regards to the recent price drop on the HP TouchPad. This not only affected Misco but many other online retailers. Unfortunately, as a result the Misco website was unable to meet these exceptional demands leading to many customers being unable to access the website to place orders.

These offers were massively oversubscribed and exceeded all expectations. With the website unable to function correctly the limited stock was sold quickly through our sales teams and therefore unfortunately never made it to the website.

We are committed to you, our valued customers and are taking immediate corrective steps to regain your confidence in us. We have begun to take measures internally to manage similar events in future and in order to provide customers with more timely information for handling operational difficulties. We are confident, as a result of these actions, that Misco will be more reliable and responsive to customers.

Nothing is more important to us than regaining your trust and we hope that you give us the opportunity to display our strengths as one of the UK’s leading IT & electronic resellers and provide you with the positive experience you have come to expect from us.

    Sincerely,

    Sandy Price

What's puzzling me is that I didn't get that, I just got that the order is being prepared. Clicking on that in the fnac site says that it's being prepared and I'll receive an email when the item is shipped. Am I better or worse off than the people who were told it would take 4-12 days.

I have the same as you and I think at the moment its not looking good for anyone.

Their stock is so limited that they're continuing to say "Buy now - While stocks last" on their website. Crock of sh1t indeed.
