I was doing pretty well on the SurvivalOcean challenge but there was a blackout in the area while I was playing it. Now its not showing up in the load screen :(

Is there any way to recover anything? The Region subfolder is okay and seems the same size as it was earlier so I'm guessing that's alright; the Data folder is empty but I'm guessing that's fine as I had no Maps crafted.

Make a backup of the level.dat file and then rename level.dat_old to level.dat Sometimes that can repair a corrupted save.

If that doesn't work you could send the save to me and I'll have a tinker with it to see if I can get anything from it.

Not a big deal, but noticed that I've lost my achievements as well...

Do you have windows 7? If you do right click the .minecraft folder in %appdata% , click properties and click previous versions. If there isn't a backup there download MCEdit , load the map onto it and click repair chunks (I think)

One thing that has worked for a few people is starting a brand new map. Then copy the level.dat, level.dat_old and session.lock files from that save to the corrupted save. If it works you will lose any items that were in your inventory, but the world will be intact.

Copying the level.dat from a fresh version of the map worked. No inventory items (all those pistons lost!) but at least my stuff is still in one piece! :D
