I bought the home edition and installed and activated it on my pc. My pc is too old and does not have the RAM to support windows 7. I really should have checked this before I dropped 120 quid in Harvey Normans.

Anyway , my question is can I sell my copy of windows7 even though I activated it on my pc or can it only be activated on my pc?

If it is a full retail copy it can be reinstalled on another machine no problem.

If it is only an OEM copy then it is tied to the motherboard of the machine it was first installed to.

also if it's retail don't forget to deactivate it so it's no longer associated with your pc and free to be installed on another machine.
