You certainly lose something in translation on forums :L

I kind of assume everyone who's going is local, it's ridiculous. I live in Celbridge only 10 mins down the road so I don't think of the wider world much :P

You might wanna lost that thinking! There's gonna be a lot of the "wider world" folk about in maynooth!

But to be fair, there's a whole load of Maynooth/Leixlip/Celbridge/Lucan people too. Don't be surprised if half your school are there...

It's Anto :D I thought it might've been you, going by the LC results and all. A quick look at your previous posts (mainly the U2 and Take That ones!) and I was confident enough to ask :L.

Aw cool yeah hi Anthony it is Michael.

I knew you were on boards but I wasn't sure what your username was but it is kinda easy to know me by posts in the Music forum. My opinions are certainly always going to be the same on online forums as they are in real life.

I expected no less my friend, haha :D

Looking forward to Monday, just for the sake of it. Been far too bored and drunk the last couple of days! :P

Save it for the Debs dude.

I know a fella (not in our school) who is planning to pay over €200 on drinks that one night.

And I'm sure your boredom will be cured soon the new RHCP album is out friday next week.

I'm exactly the same as you :p !! They might go down, but tbh i'd be just as happy to take Arts :D

Yeah everyone has been saying that Science courses will go up so I'm hoping my courses will go down :p
Maynooth had the same points as my first choice (DCU) so I never thought I'd end up there. But everyone has been saying to me that Maynooth is likelier to drop than DCU so we'll see. And if neither drops I'll end up in UCD.:) Guess I'll find out tomorrow..

You should get to know people during Orientation week. From what I heard most students doss for those 7 days anyway. Even on the 19th when lectures start clubs and socs day will be just around the corner so it will be easy to get to know people by joining as many as you can.

I saw a video on youtube on the NUIMAccess channel, which showed a girl from Donegal.

A fella I met on the university day was from Mullingar so there are some "wider world" folk in Maynooth.

But yeah I'd imagine maybe 3 quarters of the student population are from Celbridge/Leixlip/Lucan/Maynooth/Clane etc. and the last quarter are from other places here and about.

Well.. I'm going to Maynooth for sure, I have arts for my 1st choice and I have 485 Points so I gave that place nearly guaranteed. I'm going to do Law with French and something else.

Don't worry! I didn't know a single person going here when I started either :) It's really easy to make friends here, just chat to everyone and you'll find people you've stuff in common with. And then there's clubs and socs as well.

It's not at all like that. Obviously there are loads of people from the surrounding areas who study in Maynooth, but nowhere near as many as 3/4. A third maybe, and that would still be pushing it.

Half of Dundalk also seems to go to Maynooth, as well as a good portion of Donegal.

Seeing as I went to school in Donegal I have to lump myself in with that crowd a bit :P Good few from the general north-west region in Maynooth I find!

Ah, no, it's far more than that. The college is big enough that even if your whole class went there, you wouldn't see that much of them, unless you chose to.
Sorry if I scared anyone, it's not like everyone from surrounding areas knows everyone in the college. And the spread is far more than 75/25!!

After getting in contact with some chaps from my year it is currently seeming like half my year will indeed be going to Maynooth.

Most of them have recieved their offer and accepted so I shall know a fare few faces coming here. I will defo still make room for the newbies elsewhere.
