Tv3 are now officially the worst/cheapest/tackiest/shítiest tv station in Ireland.

having xpose and allowing martin king out of his weather room already confirmed that

As an Irish person born and bred "Tallafornian" I am embarrassed and actually surprised (I know I shouldn't be) that we would stoop as low as all the shows we like to mock. Thought we had a touch more class, if only a touch.

Yeah, because Fade Street was sooooo highbrow.

As someone from Tallaght I shall watch this once then go out the back and shoot myself in embarassment.:(

Also I know some of them and they're actually from Tallaght.
I just hope that the good folk of Tallaght rise up against this nonsense and turn on the head office of TV3

So it's actually true. TV3 are doing a Jersey Shore style show very "originally" titled Tallafornia.

What do ya reckon folks? Entertainment or car crash TV? Or should we all just call it a day and nuke the planet now?

If somebody in public life proposed that an investigation is needed into how TV3 and 3E (formerly Channel 6) received Irish tv broadcasting licenses I would be fully supportive of it.

1990: When TV3 was initially granted its tv license, the Minister for Communications who granted the licence was named...Ray Burke. You couldn't invent this!

2005: when Channel 6/3E was granted a license, Martin Cullen was the Minister for Transport and Communications.

The paltry number of Irish programmes on both of these channels make a mockery of their "Irish" licenses. In their culture, both of these channels are essentially an extension of the British channel ITV.

So that is x-factor and now tallifornia.

They really are over-catering to the idiots aren't they.

Not at all. TV execs know their audience very well. More people in Ireland will watch this garbage than will ever watch an episode of Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, The Wire, Dexter or any other half decent show with a story.

The majority of the TV audience are utter buffoons.

It's because these shows are so cheap to make. You can pay the "actors" nothing because they are mostly there for the exposure. The sets are a stage with some bunting in the case of xfactor and a house in this case. And editing and production just involves cutting out the boring bits (who knows how they can tell the difference though). They probably become profitable if less than 2% of the population actually watch them.

Yes, damn us for wanting to watch quality, well produced television shows. The more idiots that keep watching this trash, the more of it that will get made.

I genuinely don't see the attraction of this kind of show.

:pac:"Oooooh, real people in semi-scripted 'real' situations".

So what? Who really cares? What's the lasting impact? Will anyone remember it in a years time?

My understanding of Jersey Shore is its meant to be mocked, I think so far this show looks like its succeeding in following in those hallowed footsteps.

We're talking about money being spent to make utter rubbish with no redeeming quality rather than something decent.

We're talking about broadcast television being completely unwatchable now because of this kind of nonsense.

its tv3 - what else can they do? they dont have the budgets of the likes of HBO and Showtime?

what would you like to see them do? Documentry of dicky rock climbing the alps? Mary Harney dicussing the law of physics?

Then dont watch it. Problems solved.

Why do people get so furious when people enjoy different things on television? I dislike nearly everything on there but in the end it is dictated almost entirely by what people watch, and the money it makes. Its actually very democratic. Claiming other things should be shown purely because you feel a particular show is stupid is the heigth of arrogance.

    Second.

Every show on TV doesnt have to be a cerebral intellectual tonic. Why cant I watch some dumbasses try and put a doorknob on every now and again?

Rather than proving your superiority to those that watch the show, I think this post demonstrates your lack of understanding of why people like this show or any show in particualr.

It say nothing about people who watch the show as your dont know WHY they like the show.

Also it shows nothing more about the creators than they know how to make a hell of alot of money.

I can see it now..... There'll be a guy called The Scéal who is the cocky alpha male, and one or more of the following: Anto, Decco, Micko and/or Johno.

A year from now, Champion Sports will issue a press release saying they'll pay The Scéal to stop wearing their tracksuits.
