Please give me a list of AstroTurf pitches available to the public in Dublin, and any information you can give me on them too!
I have looked at UCD,Newtownpark School and looking AstroPark but they are all booked solid apart from weekends!

Dublin council have the 5 a side astro pitches in some of their leisure centres, theres one in finglas and one in ringsend and others on southside i think. they only charge 45euro an hour compared to 60+euro in astropark. check out your local council website or the phonebook for details

Do you think you could play contact rugby (training) on this?
    What's the surface like?

There's one in Skerries. Might be a bit far out for you. Contact the community centre for booking.

edit: Just spotted that this thread is over 2 years old. I'll leave it go though....the contact rugby question is general enough....

I should think not.I have only played some soccer on astro-turf and sliding on it is quite painful.I really wouldn't recommend even playing tag-rugby in it.

Just wondering if anyone knows any contact details of large astro pitches in the Dublin area.... been scowring the net but can only find the "astro-park" franchised pitches which are kinda for under 5-a-side, preferably I would be looking for a 7/8 a side pitch, cheers

Try here, they are great pitches but you will be lucky, usually booked out months in advance.

Sacred Heart in tallaght have a full size pitch - 1/2 would be perfect for 7/8 a side
Peamount United have the same www.peamount.com out in Rathcoole though
Crumlin utd an older one full size
Templeogue utd older also but still full size

Meadowbrook in BCS. Pitches are good & facilities are brand spanking so are very clean.

Looking for an astro pitch for 5 a side on a Thursday evening somewhere close to city centre? Or a list of pitches? I tried SportsCo in Ringsend but they were all booked up.

    Cheers
