Just installed XP STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524 0xC0000034 0x00000000)

    Hope a genius in here can help me. :D:D (Flattery might get me everywhere)

    I have a Fujitsu-Siemens Laptop i got as a friend was getting rid of it.

    It is a Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo Mobile v6515

    He had Windows 7 installed on it, and he said it was starting to run slow, so he installed XP on a hard drive, and put the hard drive into the Fuji, because there is no CD/DVD drive on the laptop. He said that he tried to install XP on it via USB and he got the same error ~ 0x0000007B

    So, when he gave it to me, he told me it's a simple enough error, but i may need help, he didn't have time to fix it.
    So here is where i am. When i try to boot it up, i get the error in the title of this post.
    I know about going into the BIOS and changing the RAID Auto/AHCI to RAID Auto/ATA

    The problem is, i don't have a SATA control option in this BIOS.
    However, i can go into
    MAIN> Hard Disk Drive >
    When i press return i have the optionss of

    Auto - User - Other ATAPI - IDE Removable - CD-ROM - ATAPI Removable - None

    I am sure it is one of these settings, but i have no idea how to configure them, or even which one to configure. Can anyone help me please?

    The BIOS is PhoenixBIOS setup Utility
    BIOS Version V1.08
    EC Version 022
    VBIOS Version 62.79.38.00.17
    BIOS Date 11/24/08

    It looks a lot like you are missing hardware drivers rather than bios settings.

    Hi, thanks,

    How do i install the hardware do you know?

    Everywhere i''ve looked for that error said the solution was to change the sata raid thing..

    Could i put the Hardware drivers onto a USB stick, and somehow install them?

    You need to slipstream in the SATA drivers onto the USB Windows XP image using Nlite. You can get these from the fujitsu website I'd say, also bear in mind installing XP on another machine and copying it over is a recipe for trouble, as XP will configure itself for that particular hardware, which may be very different to the other machine.
    But slipstreaming the SATA drivers onto the XP disc image and updating the USB installation files should fix it

    Okay, so if i use wintoflash ..... Or do i have to use nLite?

    How do i slipstream the drivers onto the USB install?

    EDIT:

    I think i have it, i'm going to follow THIS GUIDE for nLite. Hopefully won't be too hard (It has pictures :D)



    Any problems and i'll ask here. (so if anyone else has similar, they can see here)

    came across this error the other night when trying to install XP on an old Dell Dimension system, the customer had the recovey cd alright, but the dvd drive was botched.

    so, basically to get past this problem, once you have the files from the cd copied over to your hard drive to make your image, you have to replace the NTDETECT.COM file with a modified NTDETECT.COM file.

    i must say though, the difference in the length of time it took to install via USB, versus cd, believe it or not the cd would have been faster and far less hassle, it's just that i had no old IDE cd drives handy either that i could have temporarily slotted in! :o

    this is a guide on how to slipstream the SATA drivers into the Win XP install, don't worry you didn't understand it :o . If wintoflash uses a .iso at source, you use the .iso nlite prepares for you ;)

    A USB key install should be miles quicker than a CD one, due to read speeds of a USB 2.0 device being much faster to those of a CD Rom device, that said crappy USB keys or USB 1.0 keys will prob be as slow...

    i thought the same myself, but i think it had more to do with the fact that some guides recommend the usb key be formatted as NTFS rather than FAT32, i couldn't do this however on an 8GB stick as the partitions wouldn't allow for it unfortunately.

    once the files were copied over though, it took the usual average of 39mins to install...

    He made the System Restore Discs before ditching Windows 7 right? RIGHT?

    Because the laptop is running a little slow he replaced Windows 7 with outdated software? Sure that always works. Except when it doesn't. Sounds like the drivers for the laptop won't run under XP, and now you're kinda f*cked out of it.

    I strongly encourage you to restore Windows 7 onto it. It's like saying you thought your Jetta TDI was too loud so you filled it up with Petrol.

    I get the impression the laptop had Windows XP on it originally and op wants to reload XP on it after a Windows 7 upgrade that failed to impress, if the machine came with windows 7 however it is likely the laptop configuration does not support Windows XP at all! Good point Overheal!

    Hi all, and thanks for all the replies.. I read over them, and i don't really understand all that's being said TBH.
    I don't know what he made, (restore disks or whatever..) And i don't know if he backed up anything..

    But yoyo's solution worked a treat.. :D So a BIIIG thanks there, and a woop woop! :D

    I got the ISO from my PC using my old Windows XP CD, copied all the files to a folder.
    Then i downloaded all of the drivers from the Fujitu-Siemens website (they had all, XP, Vista and 7) for XP for that laptop and extracted them into a folder.
    Then i ran nLite, (i tried removing extra stuff, but chickened out because i didn't know what i was doing :o)
    nLite asked me if i wanted to add drivers, to slipstream into the XP disk.

    I said "YES" and pointed it at the folder with the drivers.

    Then i just clicked "next" a couple of times.

    Then it made an XP ISO that i had called FUJI-XP.iso

    I then used WinToFlash to make the USB bootable.

    Then started it, it took FOREVER. (Overnight)

    Woke up the next morning, and It was at the final bit that i just put in the language and currency, and BOOM! I have Windows XP on my new(old) Laptop!

    WhooHOO! :D:D:D

    So, a big thanks to everyone, and especially Yoyo, got it working perfect. :):D Not enough smiley faces. First thing now is to download LOADS of free stuff and make it all slow again.. ;):P

    EDIT. ~ I forgot to say, i asked him which OS it came with, and he told me it came with Vista, that he upgraded to windows 7.

    If XPs install took a few hours :eek::eek: Then theres something else up, could have been a slow USB key the cause of the problem, glad it worked out anyways :)

    no nick i dont think PB is exaggerating, it takes an age to copy over the install files from the USB 2.0 key! first time i did it i left it run overnight aswel; second time i did it- five hours and copious amounts of coffee later- it came up the familiar "39 minutes to complete bit", lol :D

    thank christ i don't have to do too many XP re-installs these days, but i recommend the first thing anyone does when buying a new laptop or netbook is make recovery media because im seeing an awful amount of physical HD failures nowadays.

    Maybe its an XP thing... 7 installs of a USB key in minutes, interesting..
