How long before time machines are invented?

Turns out I might have just goosed my entire life so far. Just to make sure I will need to find out what happens in the future of this life and then my proposed other life which is less fvcked up.

So, how long peoples. Should I freeze my corpse? Or will it be invented before long?

They were obviously never invented in the future seeing as how no one is from the future now.

If they are invented in your lifetime, this thread wouldn't exist.

They are here. Unfortunately we chucked them into mental hospitals because of their delusions.

They never will. If they were invented in the future, they'd come back and let us know.

Not a hope. Well, not in the got back to when you were small type. Astronauts in space actually travel in time as they're moving so fast. I can't really explain why.

Hi, my name is Glenn from the future.

By changing your past you will unravel the space time continuum, and destroy the universe and all existence. Well done.

 Don't kids learn any science at all in school anymore

Who knows what is walking amongst us and from what time they come from.

You'd only be able to go back in time anyway, thats what Timecop told me.

Only time travel forward is possible as far as we know......

EDIT: Try and get your hands on that full documentary, it's amazing!

if they did come back how would you recognise them as being from the future, if they claimed they were from the future would anybody believe em?? why would they come back to this particular moment in time

someone here is going to be able to explain this AOT better than me but here goes....

time travel into the future is possible (technically) already. All you need is to be able to accelerate very quickly. If you were able to accelerate yourself in a spaceship to half the speed of light and travel away at that speed from the earth for a day, stop and return the following day, thousands of years would have passed here. mental!!

edit - beaten to it ; see mickeroo's links above.

Where I used to work there were 4 monitors that displayed the movie listings but also the time. Yet there was a couple seconds between each one, so if one person stood at one end and someone else at the other, one would be a minute in the future, the other in the past.

    Does that count?

Gawd, life must be pretty boring in the future if all you guys all decided to come back to here and now.

I reckon time travel will only be possible from the point they make it. So in 2056 for example, they make a machine capable of time travel, that's the furthest back they can go. Think of it like a portal. In order to travel, you need an start/end portal. That portal doesn't exist as of yet, so they can't travel back to now.

Because we live in interesting times! (to a historian any time is interesting)

As far as I know, modern physics has disproved backward time travel but more or less proven forward time travel.

Saw your post after I posted the same thing!

Well, we'd surely have a sh1t load of documentation by people claiming to be from the same future, and they would all correspond.

Seafields- I've watched and read loads about that stuff too, and can only manage to grasp bits of it.
    Crazy stuff alright!
    Complete headfcuk!

Right, so how about alternate universes? Is it possible there's another me, living an alternate (let's say plan B) life. Could I just replace myself into that happier alternate life.

    If so, how?
