Am I the only one who thinks its stupid and pathetic when a person deletes one of the comments you posted on facebook, either on their wall, wall of an event they set up or a comment on their status.

I mean do they think you're stupid or something and shouldn't have your opinion heard? I don't get it in the slightest.

What's worse still is when they delete their own comments on your status that they originally replied to, just for the purpose of making you look stupid.

No regular people who are my friends do it sometimes.

But yeah some of the people who do it are complete d**ks but not everyone.

I've deleted comments from people because they were inappropriate or I didn't want others reading them etc

Makes me feel like a Boards mod, all special and stuff! :P

I've had this happen when the person has posted something ridiculous or childish, I've said something, then they delete the comment/ conversation. I've deleted two "friends" over the last few months who did this.

It's their page, if they don't want your comment on it, why shouldn't they be allowed to delete it? If you don't like them you can delete them as your friend.

Sometimes friends' comments reveal too much especially if you have family on facebook.

A couple of my friends went through a phase of adding comments to my wall asking to buy drugs from me, about a week after my Mum smelled marijjuana in my bedroom (I'm not a drug dealer). So really, sometimes you need to delete them.

Don't feel too hard done by, I sometimes delete them and friends delete them. If either of us didn't like the comment we would delete them like on behave of myself and my friends! Its a mean of respecting their wishes and my own. We would ask each other to delete a message if we didn't like the comment no big deal, we would do so out of politeness. What's wrong with that? But if its a general comment that was a friendly one then I be concerned. They aren't you friends if they do that sort of thing? Unless they delete a comment by accident! Otherwise forget about them they aren't your real friends if they do that on the likes of facebook without letting you know before hand! If there was a hint of teasing they will delete it! Even if you thought you were being funny and was a joke but don't feel too hard done by. Its their loss if you had a genuine comment on their page.

If there are messages I don't want other people to see I will delete them and my friends would do the same if they didn't want others to see that message. It's not worth loosing friends over unless the comments were nasty and insulting. If they were genuine but that they didn't like the message you and them have the right delete the message.

Have to agree there. A lot of people are way too conscious of how they look on FB, untagging certain photos, deleting comments and whatnot. A bit ridiculous really.

An exception of course goes for photos/comments that would look bad with family/work and such.

I can understand asking the person first.

    Thats fine.

I've had a girl delete pictures of her with me from a party.

It may have had something to do with the row she'd been having with her boyfriend that night, who'd left early while she stayed chatting with me.

My friend has a trick of posting an outrageous comment on someone's post, waiting for an outraged response from someone else, then deleting his post so it looks like the outrage is directed at the original post. Sounds like too much effort to me.

I'm sure some people post comments when they are drunk and then the next day realise it wasn't that witty or may be offensive to others therefore delete it, not with the intention of making you look stupid...and yes I have done this :o

I delete those stupid games requests and question things. They look tacky.

But I got ambushed on Facebook recently for a perfectly innocent comment on my friends page. A girl and her mother thought they were smart trying to ambush me and then they deleted their comments so it looked like I was talking to myself. I asked why they deleted their comments? The reply, "WHAT COMMENTS? UR SO FUNNY". I told them I had proof and they told me to "GET A LIFE" (I'm not writing in caps for the fun of it, that's they way they write on facebook). I promptly screen printed their comments from my email inbox and posted them on facebook for the world to see. I got a few high fives for that coz the family are known to be idiots.

I have no idea why this is supposed to be 'cool'.

What is it with facebook people?
I wrote this, yeah, I wrote that, here's a picture of me with my lips puckered cos everyone else does it. Doesn't matter that it makes me look like a pig. Status Update: " rockin white @ my dads funerl - haterz gonna hate". Look pictures of me last night - it was so random.

The f*ckwittery of it is beyond me.

Funniest example of this happening to me is when a gal I knew posted on my wall "are you flirting with me when ya do this?" I write back saying "em...no, sorry?" I noticed a few hours later she had deleted my comment, but left her original post. So she's happy enough to make it look like I want her but not if I actually don't.

All very childish...so I just deleted the whole thing.

It's when you go to look back over your comment and can't see their wall at all that you really need to worry OP ;)

The only comments I delete are usually 20 seconds after I post them just for stupid spelling mistakes....and the comment spelled correctly or witha bit added on is posted again within 30 seconds...

I have a cousin with the same name as me and he used to comment on my status updates (with stupid comments).

People started asking me why I reply to my own comments. I thought it would be obvious it wasn't me but since a good few people mentioned it I started deleting his comments, In the end I just blocked him from seeing my photos or wall.

I have a few friends who can take a joke a little too far, and when I know that it will offend another friend if they were to see it, I delete it. Seems pretty fair to me- it's my facebook page.

There's a lot of noisy people out there..... With social media, I think it's wise at times to keep things personal.... Being honest I rarely post anything on face book,.....

Maybe I'm old fashion I'd much rather talk to the person in real life if it's really important they can ring me.....

Face book has it's uses but also has a lot of dangers personally I try to avoid it these days.... It has no worth.....

Sounds like Facebook's causing a lot of unnecessary annoyances these days. Just avoid it. It's crap anyway.

I rarely use it. A lot of banality. Just irrelevant bullsh!t. Yeah look, I don't really care what pub you're in. *Closes Firefox*
