Always wondered if that date was chosen as a sick joke, "call 911!", on 9/11
    Ya think?

Americans would get more sympathy if they didn't ram this "fallen heros", "America's finest", "lets roll" crap down our necks.
Queue speeches with "rising like a pheonix from the embers" [pause for applause].
Part of me respects the terrorists for the planning & execution of the mission.
Anyway, we'll probably be told to be on security level defcon orange
on the day in case we feel like thinking for ourselves.

Do people here think it feels as though 9/11 was less than 10 years ago or more than 10 years ago, or that 10 years feels just about right?

It definitely feels like less than 10 years ago for me!

We all remember where we were and what we were doing on that awful day - and since your post on August 11 'zyxwvu' the build up has started in earnest. Check out this link about a benefit concert in the Convention Centre if you want to mark the occasion..

Was the day my Mam graduated from college. Took the train out from town after being in some Oracle PL/SQL training course all day. Was listening to the radio the whole way out, felt like the world was ending. Scary stuff.

On one hand, it seems like yesterday because I remember it so vividly, on the other, I've done so much since then and when I lived in New York for a short time in 2007, it felt as if the whole thing had never happened.

Like most people, I thought it was some sort of sick joke when I first heard about it on the radio. When it went on for more than a few minutes and the DJ started telling people not to go to the airport because all US flights were cancelled, it sank in. I remember getting home and trying to contact all my friends and family over there and all the phone lines were down. Turned the TV on and saw the planes hitting both towers. It really did feel like the world was ending.
