    Hi there

Is there any alternative to Blackgold TV DVB-S2 and DVB-T card combo?

My friend and I are constructing a HTPC and when it came to sourcing the TV card we went to BG having read reviews on this site. We are both experienced at building PCs, so we know the usual do's and dont's when it comes to building HW.

We ordered a 3595 in April/May timeframe and it was dead on arrival. Despite several emails back and forth we decided to return the card and after 5 weeks of no contact they told us that the card they shipped us was BER and it was our responsibility for the fault with no refund. We handed the matter to the credit card company as this was beyond belief.

So long story short, we want to consider alternative options? If nobody has a combo card, is there a 2 PCI-e cards people can recommend?

    Thanks in Advance
    Thorfield

I'm using the TBS DVB-S2 dual tuner card on Linux (Ubuntu). Compiling and linking the drivers to the kernel is a bit of a pain but card works well with all HD channels (including BBC) displaying correctly.

I use USB devices for DVB-T as these are easier to move around.

I have a Pinnacle 7010 in my HTPC that I purchased but have never really used. Do some research and let me know if interested I was considering sticking on adverts soon anyway.

afaik the Pinnacle 7010 is only SVB-S and not S2 which would mean you could't receive ch4 and BBC HD channels

    Thanks Guys.

The TBS DVB-S2 is a good starting point; the 6980 is the one to start with.

Is there any recommendations around DVB-T2? I prefer a PCIe solution over USB.

    Thank again

I thought this would be the way to go but found the company's customer service and after sales support to be non existent. Looking now at the Hauppauge cards instead.

BlackGold support are useless, they do not reply to support requests.
when it comes to customer service and after sales support...just see a review on Amazon

    HI Chrime,

I owned a TBS 5980 USB TV box and until now I am very satisfied their quality and their customer service. I am very interested in TBS 6220 & TBS 6280 DVB T card and want to purchase one more DVB T card. If possible, share me some experience about this card? such as signal quality, speed, hardware specification ect
