Does After Hours bring out the worst in you?

Does being on Boards.ie (specifically After Hours) bring out the worst in you?

I find that a lot of people get intertwined in a ridiculous argument that would be resolved easily through the spoken word.

People seem to get petty and resort to using a language far to 'uppity' to be taken seriously in reality!

Do you find yourself reacting to peoples posts or saying stuff you wouldn't normally! or indeed expressing an extreme view purely for effect or to get one up!

    :pac:

After Hours is more real than life itself.

You say stuff in here you wouldn't say in public.

    Like Ryan Tubridy is cool.

    No.
I post in the same way I speak/behave in normal life.

SHUT THE HELL UP OP!!!!

But no, in fact I actually finding myself being more reasonable here because I'm too wary about getting bogged down in a stupid argument with a troll or someone I disagree with.

I do sometimes get a bit angry with trolls and people who post in a thread to say how uninterested in it though.

I've never heard the phrase 'ad hominem' used in normal coversation.

Certainly brings out the worst in you

I find the arguments people have (myself included sometimes) to be hillarious, everybody quoting this study or that study, or some obscure philosopher or some such nonsense like were all a bunch of academics at some high brow conference. It's plainly obvious that the vast majority of these "discussions" are basically cut and paste jobs from google and could not possibly be replicated down the pub, but that doesn't detract from the life or death passion they invoke.
Then 2 minutes later it's back to knob jokes. Priceless:D

Yah. I have a major pedantic streak that comes out when there's Something Wrong on the Internet, and AH is sometimes as Wrong as it gets. :o

I think I'm pretty much the same here as real life. Maybe I might make a slightly better arguement here cause I can think it through fully before posting.

I'm pretty much the same; I tend to avoid debates / arguments on here when I can as they all tend to become extremely petty and terminate in utter pointlessness.

I think I come across as a bit of a smart-ass and a foul mouth on boards though. But that's probably because I actually am.

No, it doesn't. I'm certainly not interested in getting into arguments on or offline, and will cut them short and walk away if someone tries to start one. I wouldn't lower myself to it, and it pisses people off. Win / win :)

I just think if you're the kind of person to argue, or make bitchy petty remarks or digs then you probably don't have much of a life.

I'm pretty much an arsehole off of here as well...

I tend to befriend people with a similar belief system to me though so I usually don't have to go around defending my opinions. Well that's until I start saying them to my Mum.....

I pretty much say it as it is ,as it's in my mind and you can always tell when somebodys looking to get a rise outta people in AH with the trolling but it is AH so I tend to take the quick and easy option , which unless it's an interesting topic = don't really give a shyte

Used to moan a lot more here than in real life I guess. Its easier when you know people can just skip over your posts rather than have to listen to you face to face.

Other than that I'm pretty much the exact same online as in real life. People who have met me off this have commented on that!
