I'm imagine fighting games are bigger now. Maybe when arcades where still around the casual scene was bigger but I doubt any of us knew much about high level play or balance back then.

The scene was definitely bigger, a certain amount of high level play could be gleaned from guides (I'm looking at my Sf2 expert player's guide right now). As Chopper said, in Barneys, you played well or you were off. If you had no money you were done, if you did you'd have to wait out everyone elses turn. You learned to win quick.

But there was definitely not the tight knit kernel of players we have now.

From my understanding, there's a serious amount of option selecting in SF2, it's just people weren't aware of them. Damdai did a series on them a while back on FADC.

That's CPS2, not CPS1 Onion, not what Chopper was talking about.

I'm sure there must be OSes in the older SF2 games though.

Free PC AE for Evo attendees!

    http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2011/aug/10/redeem-codes-ssf4-ae-pc-going-out-now-evo-attendees/

That's pretty cool. If any of our Evo attendees don't have a decent PC, I'll totally take the code off your hands :D

There was a lot of discussion about this a few pages back.

Short version: It can't be gotten in brick and mortar stores

    AFAIK this isn't true.

I spoke to a bunch of HMV employees I know and got them to check in their inventory system. AE simply wasn't there.

The glory days of trade DP to Ultra.

  • Moderators Posts: 5,598 ✭✭✭Azza

Vanilla Ryu with no trade ultra, super trap or coward coptor.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,045 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

    Trade Ultra: possibly too powerful.
    But Super trap was AWESOME.

And coward copter is a move Ryu's had since SFII, how dare they get rid of it!

Are there test machines for this in NY (neo yoshi)?
If so, I'll be able to check them out at some stage next week as I'll be there for six days, with nothing concrete planned...

Or where can I/you guys find this information?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,006 ✭✭✭Ramza

Taken from an interview with Noah, Azza might appreciate this :pac:
Who's your favorite character? "Bison." How come you like Bison? "His purple hand."
