Anyone done it?

I'm not familiar with the cables etc, but is there an easy way to charge it back without needing one if those crappy travel adapters?

Depends on the specific device. The Edge 500 (and others) charge off the USB cable as it provides 5v to the unit from the PC, so non-country specific.
