As the subject says, I'm on holidays on the court date, how can I get it changed?

Get a solicitor to go on your behalf.

Or get anyone else to go, friend/family member. to explain to the judge the reason for your absence.

You could also not go at all, but fines are normally higher when this happens.

I'd like to be there as I have a small bit of explaining to do. I didn't receive the fix penalty in time, error on an posts part and I have a letter from them explaining the situation.

If there is a Garda named on the summons as the complainant, no harm to notify him/her in advance that you will be seeking an adjournment. Ring their station and they'll tell you when they'll next be on duty, then call them at the start of their next shift and inform them that you'll be seeking an adjournment.

It probably won't make any difference to the Garda because they will most likely have a bundle of other cases on the same day anyway but when you go into court asking for an adjournment, the judge will often ask you if you informed the other side (i.e. the prosecution) in advance and get stroppy if you did not.
