why dont people realise this, here's how Irish summers work, on the exact date the Leaving Cert starts, sun. sh1tty humidity with rain for most of July and August, then the first day back to school, sun again. book your time off work accordingly.

It has been a lot worse, remember summer 2008 it was a wash out! Not been a bad summer so far, more pleasant, mild and some warm/humid days yet less sunny but nice. Not as many wet days but there has been a good few cool and breezy days alright. Seems like our hot summer days are gone, it arrived too early this year! Say now the autumn has arrived! Its only and ever is a mixed summer weather to be honest!? Get all seasons in one day here in Ireland!

At least you had the Munich massacre to look forward to. It seems like even current affairs have been a letdown since 9/11.

Not really, living through the antics of the real Carlos the Jackal and other mad, crazy stuff kept us all going in regards to weathering other storms.

I didn't mind the snow last winter, it was season-appropriate at least. Shame the cold winter = hot summer theory didn't work out.

We have had a very good year by all standards. On my birthday, at the end of February, we went to the zoo, and went wearing tshirts and sweatshirts only. I don't think I wore my coat again until May. My friends got horribly sunburned in college at the end of April! So far this summer has been streets ahead of many of the recent ones. Went to a Foo Fighters gig in August, lovely day, 2008 - Dave Ghrol said he'd been told it had rained for three months solid, yet here was the sun blazing. I remember that summer cause I used to walk with my ex to the Luas at 7am every morning, and it was always with an umbrella. I had to buy him an umbrella in the end. He was from Pakistan and the poor guy was naive enough to think that it was actually just monsoon season in Ireland!! That really gave me a laugh and a half.

Thought it was quite a poor summer, too, actually. Wouldn't say fourth in a row, though.

Last year wasn't very good, but I thought the year before that (2009) was fantastic (whether it actually was or not, is another thing, but I remember it as being great).
