New or Refurnished 1TB box?

Just got off the phone from Sky. I have a problem with my 1TB box that I got last Febuary.

Sky did a Planner Rebuild and a Full System Reset last week but the problem wasn't fixed.

Now I have been told the engineer is going to call and replace the box this w/e. But to my surprise Sky don't have to replace the box with a new one if they don't have one - they can replace it with a refurbished one if they choose!

Since I only got my new 1TB last Febuary, I thought they would extend the warranty but no they don't.

So has anyone else got a refurbished box and are they reliable?

The problem on my existing box is annoying but manageable. Would I be better off sticking with my new box or taking the chance with a refurbished box?

would doubt theres many reburbished 1tb boxes around so will probably a new one Id imagine, and as all boxes are now made directly by sky via amstrad who they now own doubt it would make much difference.

Refurbs are fine, don't worry. Yours will end up as a refurb for somebody else after it goes back to base for its full service.

Was in a similar situation to you a couple of years ago and in desperation ordered a replacement box from Sky. I wasn't present when it was installed and I only copped that it was a refurbished unit after a few months. The replacement box didn't even last a year before it began giving the same problems. So my advice for what it's woth is to go for a brand new unit

I ended up getting a new 1TB in the end. Sky couldn't gaurantee a new one so I got in touch with Sierra - both the customer care agent & the Sierra engineer - and I made sure I got a new one! So far so good, the box is working without any problems.
