PSU Choice

Hey,

I've been getting a lot of blue screens lately while gaming, and I think it might be my PSU.

I am running Phenom x4
Asus DDR2 motherboard
4GB DDR3 RAM
500 GB 7500RPM HD
Geforce 250S
Drisk Drive etc.

I am running this off a generic 450W PSU.

Now obviously I don't want to spend too much on a PSU but I heard cheap ones' aren't worth the metal they are made of. I was thinking of a 750W as this would allow be to upgrade my motherboard and processor in the future.

What do you think? Too cheap?
The PSU I have now doesn't appear to have any cables left over to power my new SSD drive as the GPU needs 2 SATA cables to power it (not that I know anything about the type of cables) Will the cable on this PSU allow me to power a medium range GPU, 2 HDD and a SDD?

Been trying to read up on all this but I'm a bit lost to be honest.
Also one other question how do I remove my original PSU from the case seems pretty welded in, if it was part of the case can I still remove it

Noooo stay far away from cheapo PSUs. They are VERY liable to cause you problems, and have a tendency to die/catch fire/explode/kill your computer.

Yeah that great, but is there much point in buying a 450W when I already have a 450W PSU. what about this http://www.amazon.co.uk/XFX-P1-650S-NLB9-PRO650W-Power-Supply/dp/B0045L5LGI/ref=pd_cp_computers_3 or is there a slightly cheaper similar modle hanging around.

That SDD looks great.

That SDD looks great.

Theres a massive difference between a generic 450W PSU and a good 450W PSU. The problem is that cheap companies blatantly lie about the capabilities of their units. For example, that CiT 750W unit is actually only a 400W at best, whereas the XFX Core is a genuine 450W model.

The generic PSU you have is probably more like a 200W model which is why it could be causing problems. You can get the 650W XFX if you want, and you'll never have any power issues. The 450W is perfectly good for your current setup though.

This is very rough idea but imagine cheap power current works like that:
_/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\_ and thats beside failing to achieve stated watts

Real power, eg mentioned XFX Pro, goes like:

The smoother flow the less stress for components = more stable functionality.

Now thera are also small hiccups in quality power too but it fixes them by implementing such protections:

OCP (Over Current Protection)
OVP (Over Voltage Protection)
UVP (Under Voltage Protection)
SCP (Short Circuit Protection)
OTP (Over Temperature Protection)
OPP (overload protection)
