Both are awesome pieces of music and have some incredible guitar playing/riffs in them both.

You know nothing about music. You're just repeating what you've heard. Next you'll be saying Clapton is "a guitar God" too, and that Flea is the best bass player in the world.

Good job making yourself look like the most stuck up poster in the thread.

Would you disagree with either statement out of curiosity?

What statements are you referring to? The ones I quoted? The OPs? Quote tags usually help clarify these things...

Both songs are miles over-rated. I find them both too long & boring. I propose that most people just say they like them because they're regarded as classics, so people spout off sh*te like "best riff of all time" and "best solo ever" when they haven't a clue.

Hotel California is the epitome of bland MOR corporate rock and while Stairway is cheesy and overfamiliar, it's not really representative of the rest of Zeppelin's work.

Neither of the posts you quoted said that. They simply alluded to good guitar in both songs which is spot on. Neither are my favorites by those bands either but dismissing someone as knowing nothing about music for the statements

is more than a little harsh. Undeniably both songs have great guitar playing in them, the best ever? that was not implied by either poster. Appreciating the guitar playing in these is understandable as they are quite guitar centric songs. For the record I prefer Led Zep songs like rock and roll.

    Hotel California.

Pif.. Stairway to heaven is almost as overrated as Jimmy Paige.

Is there any song that can really be representative of Led Zeppelin as a whole? they did a lot of really different stuff really really well.

This I can get behind, very good guitarist no doubt but an awful lot of people put him second only to Hendrix which I think is a little crazy. Just my 2 cents though.

I think you may belong in the hipster thread. Only goons and hipsters say "you know nothing about music". Why? Because you're too cool to like popular music and think because you don't like them the ones that do "haven't got a clue".

Oh wise-one, please give us all a clue about music! You obviously know better than "most people".

Jesus Christ, man - I never said either of those posters said "best riff ever" - I said that people in general say that, when they haven't a clue. It's already been said numerous times ITT.
I quoted those 2 posters because I disagreed with them. And then I spoke about people saying "best solo ever", etc, in a completely different post!
Get with it. You applied a standalone post I made, to 2 other posters I quoted in an entirely different post.

    No problem.

    This song here called "Hypnotise":
    http://www.myspace.com/bandmanhattan

It's a 16 year old's first bass riff, sloppy low-impact drums with horribley mic'd toms, no sync between the rhythm section (bass & bass drum), low-mixed meandering vocals that go nowhere, jumping in & out of falsetto, a sh*te twiddley bit of lead with horrible tone playing 3 crappy notes over & over from the pentatonic scale. And when it kicks back in at 3:20, the drums are out of time & sloppy.

I can go on, but it's too boring to listen to.

No you made an assumption that I know nothing about music...so rather than disagree with someone's post you found the need to belittle them as well...I hate ppl like you...normally their own opinion is something they found on a website and as such have no clue of their own.

Never said that. I know more about music than you though, and I'm a better musician than your entire band.
