Looking at it now, the instructions I have from Cherry for hacking the server are *very* out of date, so I'm gonna have to re-learn how screen and all that jazz works...

Give me a half hour and I'll hopefully have it.

Just a quick update. I haven't been on lately due to other commitments but will be back soonish :P

Regarding the server update, I'm inclined to wait until 1.8 instead of updating again for 1.7

Also also, for 1.8 I'm thinking we should swing the server in a different direction, i.e plugins for other aspects of the game, so all ideas welcome

If we're having another wipe of any kind or in general are re-evaluating the plugins for the server, I would suggest removing McMMO and the max speed addon for Minecart Mania.

As it is, Minecraft becomes fairly safe once you've set-up your first hidey-hole for the night. McMMO's abilities make it even easier, whether it's raining burning fury with arrows or jumping off cliffs with no damage. On top of that, the rankings seem almost pointless as they have little to do with actual skill or merit, as everyone near the top has grinded their stats, belittling the concept of achievements and therein making rankings obsolete.

Just doesn't quite feel like "survival" multiplayer. It would also put everyone on even grounds when it comes to the recent surge of popular PVP; battles would become those of psychological warfare instead of who spammed their arms at one another in private the longest. On the other hand, I know someone expressed displeasure at the modification to make roads invincible due to creeper explosions tearing stuff up, but not everyone is willing or able to maintain the main town.

I also have a sneaking suspicion McMMO is responsible for the fact we have had no Ghasts nor Slimes spawning, as they disappeared around the time McMMO was added.

My reasoning behind the max speed removal for Minecart Mania is that it's made booster tracks useless which were frankly the only common use for gold. Owing to the sizeable amount of tracks people are placing, it would add another valuable commodity to the server, since as far as I know, the community was expected to take advantage of iConomy for more than just renting out tiny plots in each others' towns.

Just my 2 cents.

No no no, no wiping the server this time :P Unless its needed to for this 512 height world.

As for the slime and ghast issue I can 100000% assure you it was a problem before mcmmo was put on. I still haven't figured out why its happening but a quick search through the bukkit and official minecraft forums suggest its more than just an isolated issue.

Also regarding the 'everythings done already' thing, thats why I'm asking to add new features in :P The nation wars hare posted was already considered but some people didn't like the idea as its a form of opression and stops people moving freely around the world.

Also Minecart Mania, I agree. Wouldn't mind it removed

I think a problem the server encountered is a lack of direction or lack of identity. Is there a goal that people want here? what kind of server.

There is more than just survival server and free-build as we've seen with other servers. Towny is a great idea but isn't used much, my town has most plots sold, about 14 yet there is about 3-4 people who actually live there and most plots haven't been build upon, this is a bit dis-heartening and I've barely been on the last week or two to improve the town at all. I guess the same could be said for nimtown as I'm a resident and haven't been for 2 weeks?

Revenant said it the best about the mcmmo and the grinding.

I do like the themed towns that people are making but the towns are too big for too few people. Which is another problem of not having the consistent high numbers of 20 or even 15+ online.

So I guess it's about what either what Cherry as the owner of the server wants it to be or what the majority of the users want it to be? There doesn't seem to be as much of a unilateral idea here.

People need direction and order and rules. Without I believe play becomes stale.

Just my opinion on the matter. That said I still play the server and am grateful for what cherry has done and the admins.

Wasn't there supposed to be a citizenship type thingy with towny? If we could encouarge people to pick one town and stay with it, it might give those towns a bit more identity and community.

I'd be all for the nation war thing for that reason.

I think compared to the last map this one is a bit more challenging. Another big group project like we did with the bank mightn't be a bad idea either.
