Incredibly hard water - can it be softened

I have a shallow unlined spring fed well that is at least 50 years old. Recent testing showed 670ppm calcium carbonate. That amount of calcium is fantastic for your bones but not good for your plumbing. I have been assured that it can be softened but I am not confident. Does anyone know a softener that can cope with that…

I have been assured that it can be softened but I am not confident. Does anyone know a softener that can cope with that level of hardness & produce water that could actually be classed as soft (rather than just less hard)?

The water is clean & iron free so there is no need for a filter on the system.

Yes it can be softened but with a larger than standard softener , probably a 10 by 54 with a good clack or autotrol valve and make sure its volumetric not timed.You will be completely lime free if proper unit is used.
