The undercoat and the first coat of the finished color have been put on the walls. My painter has asked whether do do the 2nd/last coat before the 2nd fix is done. Im unsure what to do.

If I do go for it, it would mean getting the paint on alot quicker and only touch ups needed when finished 2nd fix.

If i wait, it will take longer but would be no need to go back over any marks that might be left from the builders.

If anyone has any thoughts id be happy to hear them.

I would be questioning the professionalism of your painter if he wants to finish your walls before 2nd fix. It really depends if you are varnishing or painting your woodwork.

If you are varnishing the woodwork you may get away with it because you would have no caulking to do, if you are painting your woodwork i would not finish the walls first as you will have to caulk up the top of your skirting and sides of arcatraves.

Also is it just the 2nd fix woodwork he wants to finish before or is it the electrical aswell?

Leave finish coat till after 2nd fix, as the top of the skirting and down side of frames have to be caulked whether it been painted or varnished, also during the preparation of the woodwork any sanding will leave a film of dust on the walls.
