This got me thinking. There are times were I feel I must buy the drinks for fear of being labelled an asshole for not paying for her drinks!

There was one time where I didn't get a second date with this girl because we went to the cinema and I paid for that but on the way to the screen she said she wanted to get popcorn and coke. I wasnt hungry and told her that but that I would get her one if she wanted to. She said she would get it so I left it at that! I didn't get a second date because in her words, "I expected her to pay for the food". Isolated incident and not a regular occurence!

That's ridiculous, probably best you parted ways.

You lucky man. Some boys would have found out what she is like months down the line.

In fairness she was Polish! I think they are fairly old fashioned when it comes to the whole dating thing!

Although I've noticed a fair few women who think they're far more intelligent than everyone else when they're actually thick as shít.

I have a friend like this... no point in debating with her because EVERYONE else is wrong. She even debated with an oncologist about a specific chemo treatment because she was right... because she heard it on the news one day.

    Lies!

No, no lies, just want five minutes to stretch and then I'm all go.

Just not straight away as soon as I wake up. I'm still asleep and won't appreciate it!

This. I got told off for crotch staring the other week.
The amount of times the opposite sex has had entire conversations with my breasts and not my face is beyond me, but I appreciate one crotch and it's "oh my God...what are you doing?"

    Pfft.

Thank you doll :D and I feel your pain. Seems to me if you're endowed with anything more than bee stings, you cease to have a face, or even eyes. My standard response is "yes, yes they are good, however unfortunately they donnot have the ability to answer you back "

When do you hear guys say "make love"? it's a chick thing, guys just fcuk.
They're two different things, I think. Making love is a touchy feely emotional thing that you see in silouette in the movies, while fcuking is fcuking :)

Not exclusive to women but I've come across moreso than lads that are terrible at telling stories about a scenario. It's like they're reading a script out to me with dialogue, actions, setpieces while going off on 53 different tangents before you have to haul them back to the main story.

By the time they eventually get to the end like : ".....and that's how James broke his phone." you've already figured the story out and have long stopped giving a shìt.
Mods, please don't lock this thread because of above post!
In all fairness, there's been a helluva lot worse said on this thread than that!! Like this for example (which you thanked):
No interest in current affairs or politics. How can females have an entitlement to vote with no comprehension of the issues?...Painful to take on holidays anywhere. They are more like toddlers...Impractical and stubborn. A drain on male resources...Claim that men are dirty, but take a look at the discharge on knickers. Like glue or gruel.
The lack of response to this kind of post is what infuriates me

Someone who hasn't met many women or someone who's had a bad breakup...sounds very bitter. Also, someone who's analyzing the discharge on women's knickers.....worrying....

Also, I love politics and current affairs :) And am happy to feck off on my own and tour around in a new country.

I can't stand the women who think the world revolves around them, and the way they talk down to anyone they havent a high opinion of. But the less you have to do with that type, the better.

Well there are a lack of men. alot of boys but not much men at all. Italian men are very different from Irish men of this generation. At least Italian men are men, not wimps and cowards whining and whinging behind people's back, they are more women than men. Many Italian men have respect for women.

The way they comment on the way you look without caring if you can hear or see them rate how you look. Have caught one lad point me out to his friend and the friend look at me then shake his head to the friend while I'm standing right in front.
Was in a queue one time and when I turned around could hear one lad saying to hi friend nah she's not a looker. Obviously I looked ok from the back but not from the front.
I have a lot of these kind of stories. Makes u feel quite crap

Ah yes, insults from random strangers. So far I have had "****ing bitch!" shouted at me a guy in a passing car, had sexual comment made to me by a bunch of 20 something lads as I was out running while almost getting pushed off the pavement, had guys joking about raping me and a bunch of my friends as we walked to a friends place from college and got randomly called a lesbian a while back cos i had short hair. So yeah, the opposite sex make it hard sometimes to find redeeming features.

In my opinion and your stories are examples that there is a significant lack of men in this country especially in Dublin.

Well I'd prefer to avoid further labelling of men/boys cos I think it kinda reinforces the macho thing which I think is rough on most men.

The common thread throughout all the random abuse I mentioned (and I'm afraid that's not all of the stories I have:rolleyes:) is that the guys were either in a car or in a group i.e. they were protected by the guys around them or their environment. I think that kinda stuff would be far less likely to come from a guy standing one-on-one to me. It has surprised me though, the strength of what was said and the randomness of it - while you know you should shrug it off, after a while it begins to eat into your confidence a bit. It was becoming harder and harder to just go out for a walk or run because I was worried about the likelihood of more insults/intimidation.

In fairness, the examples you give are hardly representative of 99% of men.

Sorry, I should clarify. At that point in time it skews your view of men - I know that it isn't representative but when you encounter it with such frequency as I have then it colours how you feel about men generally. You have that added sense of apprehension. Perhaps it's just me. I'm just talking from my own experience. I have plenty of lovely male friends and relatives and know that it's a rarity for the most part. It's just that I seemed to be living somewhere where it would occur often. It wears you down.

I think she was talking about men probably between the ages of 20-35

Again, I'd be weary of putting ages on these things. While the guys were mostly younger I have friends of the same age who are absolute gents.

For what is see here in dublin, especially among the younger men under 35 they are very quick to make assumptions and judgments about people especially women just from looking at them. That is another thing that makes me angry about men here is that they try to sum you up when they know not one thing about you and your life.
