Just got an invite onto my mates 17ft dory(dell quay). Now the biggest worry i'd have is the amount of people he's invited, there are going to be 8 of us... I wonder is the boat fit for that amount?? Thanks

That's a lot of people and it would be most likely overloaded, is this in fresh water (i.e. calm and sheltered) or the sea? Any more than a canal, I'd politely decline.

Fully agree its well over for sure. 6 absolute max.

But i have seen worse, a 16 foot OSM open boat in Kerry, 9 people in it out in Brandon Bay! Still I would not be happy on a dory with 8.

    does he have 8 lifejackets?

Well, back safely. The boat handled fine as it turned out it was 5 adults and 3 kids(one being a toddler) so the boat handled well all in all! thanks for the replies

Glad to gear that, mikesvr6. I agree with Tabnabs though - that was over the sane limit for a boat that size. :)
