How naive are some people. Do people really believe a period of deflation is causing such a dramatic change in living standards? People are eating out less and being slightly more price aware as opposed to not price aware at all. This does not equate to giving up lattes, buying tinned food, eating in Mcdonalds or shopping in Lidl. It means less lattes, buying the same food minus the superquinn 50 euro african water and eating out as a treat rather than a regular occurrence.

Some of these recession threads and the naivety of people are hilarious.

Hate to brake it to ya, but the recession has long ended. It was over many quarters ago.

We're in many nested recessions. Even if they're all over the Period of Maximum Suckage is about to start.

Which is why they are bringing in property tax. Long years of no disposable income and high taxation for nothing in return

Technically you need two quarters of negative growth in a row to be in recession. That hasn't happened in a while afaik, though the economy does seem to be bouncing along the bottom.

Enough to call this a period of deflation?

Just wait for the property tax and whatever other nasties will be brought in and we'll see many more quartes of negative growth
