Segate Momentus XT as a cheaper alternative to SSD?

They're supposed to be significantly faster than a 7200rpm HDD and not much slower than a SSD while being considerably cheaper than a SSD.

What do you guys think of these Hard Drives? Good idea to go for as a cheaper alternative to an SSD?

Think of it as a normal mechanical harddrive with a 'turbo' feature permanently switched on and that is actually noticeable

Although at over 100 euros for the 500 gb version, I think people still prefer the ssd + mechanical

Crucial M4 64 gb SSD - 100 euros
Samsung F3 1 TB - 45 euros

Isn't 64gb too small for the SSD to run the OS and programmes on it?

30 gig is all I need for OS and everyday programs on my SSD, (a 64 gig drive is plenty for windows + everyday stuff)

Games, media etc.. stay on a magnetic drive.

Really don't see the point of these drives for a desktop: (SSD + large cheap harddrive for bulk storage does the trick nicely.....)
