Kodak All-in-one Printer

I recently bought a Kodak all in one printer. My black ink has just "run out", the printing never went faded or anything (like it used to on my HP before i changed it) and the printer wont let me print until i change the cartridge! This is really annoying me as I know there is still ink in there that can be used, particularly if i am just printing a draft something.

Does anyone have any idea how to override this and keep it printing?
    Thanks

i think this is a feature on kodak printers that cant be overwritten-they charge so little for the inks (about 12euro i think) that they want them to be changed regularly by end users
