me no likey short title reigns. Because whatever happens sooner than later, Cena's getting that title and fighting Punk. It'd be nice if WWE didn't devalue the belt by having two meaningless title reigns inbetween that. Especially for someone's first title win.

Cena vs Alberto for the title has been the plan since the draft

Odds on a Cena and HHH promo?

With this CM Punk storyline, they had the best story on Raw for ages, and now its taking a backseat to this Triple H and Vince thing. O sigh. Unless theyre incorporating CM Punk in, which explains the comic con. But I just thought they could've gone a better way with it

how is it taking a back seat? If anything it enhances Punk's reputation as being the guy who got Vince fired surely?

Well thats my fear. But he'll surely be taking a backseat to Triple H!

Lets just say the story started out red hot and week by week its getting slowed down.

    Just my humble opinion

If HHH takes over as the new "Mr. McMahon" then the one thing that is guaranteed is that Punk will not take a back seat to him. The majority of peopl hate their boss, so the natural way to get heat is to be the boss everyone wants to hate. It also means that anyone who sides again HHH in the future will get an automatic face turn.

This benifits CM Punk because when he comes back he will be the biggest babyface on the roster. Put him up against HHH and you will have a remake of Austin vs McMahon from the attitude era, with the Punk as the real champ vs HHH's interm champ. It would make sure Punks current incredible pops don't stop anytime soon.

you're entitled to that opinion, but i strongly disagree with it.

i've seen a few opinions similar to this, and i think it's just borne out of the fear we all have, knowing HHH's obsession with the limelight, that he will ULTIMATELY take it for himself.

i just don't share that worry.

Punk is the reason HHH is in this possession, and this storyline, with Punk the central piece, is the reason Vince has retired his on-screen character.

if this were all about HHH, then the Punk cameos this week wouldn't have happened.

Punk is the big next anti-hero, and from what we've seen, the company are behind him. there is no denying this push...

...from the fact he's directly interacted with McMahon, and bested him, to headlining the '5th Major' PPV, winning, and leaving with the belt, there is no way even HHH is overshadowing the rise of Punk, unless WWE try extremely hard to do so.

Punk and HHH have been at loggerheads, both on-screen, and behind the scenes (from what I can tell) for years. this feud is ready-made. and if HHH has learned anything from McMahon, as he's claimed he has, he will know that, especially in his position as on-screen chairman, he will have to take a backseat ultimately to the hero - just like McMahon did for Austin.

WWE will have to do very, very well to fúck this up...and all the recent stuff has pointed to the fact that they realise, finally, that...

    Punk = money.

and money rules for Vince, and it will ultimately rule for the son-in-law.

Just on the topic of people fearing that the HHH and Vince storyline will overshadow the Punk one, doesn't it have to appear that it's the main story for a while? Punk is supposed to be gone, so to give the loss of the title from the company credibility he must stay away for a while.
I think the story they're doing right now is about the right way to do it, it's linked with Punk so that's ticking over in the background while the "main" story rumbles on every week on TV. Basically it has to appear that HHH - McMahon is overshadowing Punk but really it's keeping it going.

+1 to spiritcrusher's post. This angle should be let build for months and months. I see nothing wrong with the climax of the angle being at Wrestlemania. Long term planning pays off when well executed.

I see Punk being back at Summerslam either in a re-match with Cena (somehoe getting the belt back) or in a 3 way with the winner of tonight's match, Cena and Punk.

Summerslam is one of their big shows of the year and I just can't see them not putting Punk on the show when there is so much interest in him.

Well what I expect to happen and what I want to happen are pretty often 2 very different things when it comes to the WWE.

Nonetheless, keeping Punk off the card strikes me as a great idea for Summerslam. Long term gain and all that. Wasting all the interest in him by bringing him back quickly would be up there with their most idiotic ideas.

His Knees have taken a battering but are still holding up. A screwy finish is likely.

All I ask from Raw toinght is a new title belt, it's the perfect bloody time to introduce one.

Probably see a Mysterio win and Del Rio cashing in the briefcase, but I wouldn't be surprised to see another twist in that.
