Was on Newstalk that he reckons he has 13 nominations from the Oireachtas and is confident of getting the other 7 needed.

Well to tell the truth, I am kinda bust myself trying to extract definite conclusive answers to questions put to Norris on various issues !
For example on Norris's website, one of the questions he was asked was about reports that he was in favour of rejoining the Commonwealth. In reply Norris did not say whether he was in favour of rejoining the commonwealth he said : " Variations of these two questions have been brought to my attention via the Ask David submissions made. Both issues are linked to misreporting of my views and I felt that the short video covering both below might be more helpful to those who asked than a lengthy text answer. As always, I’m delighted to receive your questions and comments and I hope that they continue "

.In other words he, and not for the first time, declined to answer the question and expects people to spend 3 minutes looking at the video. The section on the Commonwealth question is at the end and again Norris does not actually answer the question ! Unbelievable stuff. David Norris is so evasive that I suggest he should apply to FF for membership and run for the Presidency under thier banner. At this point I find little to distinguish him from an FFer.

I hope he doesn't get elected. He's the biggest creep in Ireland.

Good luck finding an openly gay FF candidate in any election.

    Why?

The idea is "would FF have him (D. Norris)".
Can you name any openly gay FF candidate in any prominent election?

The obvious one would be Malcolm Byrne. No idea what you're talking about if you're insinuating that Fianna Fail has some sort of anti-gay agenda. They introduced civil partnerships FFS.

I'd say that he is suggesting the FF'rs are rednecked, backwoodsmen and you won't find many disagreeing with him.:p :p

Father Green isn't trying to become our president. But you're right. I should have said he's among the biggest creeps in Ireland. I'd say himself and Father Green wuld be great aul buddies.

We used to play "first one in last one in is queer". We only did it with one particular teacher. Everyone would be lined up outside her class, but nobody wanted to go in first. Then she'd come out giving out to us, and she'd always tell the class lickarse to go in. When he did, the rest of us would plough through the door like maniacs, cos then nobody wanted to be last! Once we knocked her over, ah the memories!

Ah, the memories. Not done much growing up since.

"Last one in the Áras is queer!"

As to my opinion, it will be a sad endictment of Irish politics if Norris is blocked from running. He may not win, but he should at least be given the opportunity to stand.

He has had twenty years to campaign to have the Presidential election system changed, has he done so ?

Yes. As he said himself, you don't partake in a cricket match, and then half way through protest that the rules should be changed to hurling.

If he wants to change the system, he should have requested that it be changed before he began.

Regardless, I stand by what I siad - it will be a sad endictment of Irish politics if Norris is blocked from running.

Why is he taking € 70 k a year plus expenses plus pension if it is not to try to change the things that needs changing ?
If he hasnt made any effort to do so, and I dont know whether he has or not, than that makes it look as if moaning about it now is just the reaction of a spolit little child who cant get his way. :(

How can it be a sad endictment ? Its called a democracy - Norris is part of the establishment and he always has. Just becasue he doesnt like the rules when they frustrate his ambition, that is jsut tough.

In fairness to Norris it isn't he who is whining about the rules, it's some of his supporters who are doing so.

Aw come on ! Lets us assume that they are doing so with his approval, otherwise he would no doubt ask them to behave with more dignity.

I don't know if you heard the News at One with Sean O'Rourke last Thursday, but he pretty much did affirm that he was not complaining about the rules nor asking for any rules to be changed - he was quite direct about this.

Damn if you do, damned if you don't, thats your line is it then? The man can't win - which, it seems in some quarters that is what people are trying to ensure by seeing to it that he can't run. He must have someone scared he'll win.

Time for Norris to don the martyr's mantle again !
As well as joining FF, maybe he should convert to RC as well.

He's topping most polls I've seen so would be odd if he doesn't get a nomination.
