    Hi there,

I have a lad from the Gaeltacht who's going to read at my wedding. I am looking for a non religious poem that might be suitable.

    Have you any tips?

    Thanks for your help,

    Barry

A verse from A Ógánaigh an Chúil Cheangailte?

    Thanks for the reply!

Nice poem but since its about abandonment I don't think its suitable... ;)

    Any other suggestions?

Well I thought the verse 'Agus shíl me a stóirín ' might suffice!

It's primarily a song, but that's common enough with Irish verse: An Draighneán Donn. It's about love, and little else. Dig in here for versions of it: http://www.itma.ie/digitallibrary/print-collection/versions-of-draighnean-donn/. The first, in the name of Brian O'Rourke, is probably the most conveniently accessible.

If he could sing it, I'd prefer it!
