We are nothing like Norway. They are a strong proud nation and we are cowards.

I meant they are a Northern European parliamentary democracy with five million people and a cold climate. That's all.

The security around the PM is almost non-existent. It is not unusual to see him and his wife out in the countryside skiing or walking. A very easy target for any assassin.

his name escapes me at the moment, but an ex-PM used to take the metro to his office, on his own, regularly

My initial thoughts when I first heard this news today were that Norway is culturally similar to Ireland, with a similar population/politics/economy. If something like that can happen there, it could probably just as easily happen here too. It's frightening really.

Yes, except Norway uses their wealth on yearly projects to benefit the populace, not spent in backhanders and sent to big nosed stuttering cretins who don't have bank accounts :)

I wouldn't worry it being that high, I'm guessing you saw that on SkyNews, they usually exaggerate figures.

Yer one Anna Botting I think it is got put back in her box by two panellists over her repeated attempts to discuss Al Qaida's involvement.

Ireland besides what we are told is not a democracy but that arguement is for another day.

I'd say judging by the pictures at least 30 died in the water alone.:(

I've seen those figures from a bunch of sources, from what I understand, they include missing persons as well as the confirmed dead.

Do you understand what a racist is?
    Do you?

Granted, I haven't read every post in this thread, but I haven't seen anyone blaming black people, or asian people or any race specifically, so when you posted that link for the ''racists'', who were you referring to?

I'm just going to go ahead and believe you just used the word racist in the wrong context, and in actual fact were referring to the people who were blaming the muslims. Now you realise your mistake you're acting all coy with your cute little rolleyes.

If not, and there are people point fingers at a particular race, then I apologise, but like I said, I haven't seen that.

Looking at muslim prayer times in Oslo it appears that the bombing took place at a time when prayers were not being said. Jihadist bombings have often taken place when observant muslims are at prayers. African embassy bombings were during prayer time.

I know, and apologies for hijacking the point you were making.

I'd agree that the Norwegians and Irish are quite similar in many ways, although they are different in some ways (Norwegian women tend to be quite forward socially, also, they tend to be good looking in general).

Any time I've gone to visit my brother over the past few years, all the Norwegian folk are extremely friendly and helpful, in many ways similiar to Irish people, they seem genuinely interested in helping ya.

yes and i cant wait to see the results of that.
Probably time to get a primeminister with "balls" that can get control of the immigration and stop sending the money out of the country and spend it at home instead.;)

You understand why you'd do it, but must be even more terrifying for any kids left outside trying to get in somewhere to hide.. all the doors blocked. Really can't imagine it at all.

In all honesty, the only way you can say 'odds are its...' at an early stage would be if there was a suicide bomber involved. That would narrow it down to Islamic groups/self radicalised Jihadi or some offshoot of the tamil tigers. And even then, its 'odds are...'.

Its actually the negative side of "live" 24 hour news - people are expected to crap on about an event when there is 0 information available. Either through malice or stupidity this leads to all kinds of shite talk that can enter the public discussion as "fact".

By ''balls'', do you mean retaliate by invading countries and killing innocent civilians?
