    Hi all,

My girlfriend and I are moving to Galway shortly and were wondering is there any good scuba diving clubs about. I’m an advanced open water and her good self is an open water. I know there are some dive centers there but we were really hoping for a club we could join.

    any info would be great:)

    Try Galway Sub-Aqua Club;

    http://www.galwaysubaquaclub.com/

    or NUIG/GMIT Sub-Aqua Club

they may not be running courses until Autumn/Winter but contact them nonetheless-

    Hope this helps,

    Benny

Galway sub-aqua club is a excellent club to join. They dive Sundays all year round and Wed. evenings April to Oct. There club house is in the basement of 14 Cross St. and is opened Fri. nights from about 22.15. NUIG is a collage club and I think is only opened to students.

Hey, I used to live in Galway and dived with the Galway Dive Club, there a really good club and very easy going, i.e. take on PADI, CFT, SDI etc, anyway i'd highly recommend them. great bunch of guys. pretty sure they have a website too

    hope that helps!!

ya Galway dive club are really good, they dive every weekend throughout the year, and theres usually stragglers out during the week to. there not a training club as such, just a good group of divers who get together to dive!! think theres links to training centers on there website if thats your thing http://www.galwaydiveclub.wordpress.com

not really sure about the other two clubs, think galway sub aqua is CFT only!

The NUIG/GMIT Sub Aqua Club is for students and alumni of NUIG or GMIT only.

+1 for the Galway Sub Aqua Club. They're CFT but you can cross over your PADI cert to the equivalent cert. Very active and well run club.

    Hi all,

Would have to agree with the two lads, Galway Dive Club is a great club with a great bunch of guys, I did my advanced open water in Thailand a few years back, and when i moved home, I didn’t think there was any good PADI clubs about. (CFT simply not an option!!) But GDC really are a good and welcoming club, diving regularly, doesnt cost an arm!!
    I'd highly recommend

    Why so?

Cost of membership? It's usually a flat fee which covers everything for the year, so if you dive loads it works out great value but if you don't get out much it might end up costly alright.

How much is Galway Dive Club to join actually?

Another vote for the Galway Sub Aqua Club. Our website was linked above but is fairly out of date. We are currently working on developing a new one.

Our facebook page is much more up to date and gives a much better picture of how active the club is. http://www.facebook.com/galwaysubaquaclub

We dive every Sunday during the year, plus every Wednesday during the summer. Next week is our Annual Aran week when our two bigger RIBS will be travelling out to the Aran Islands every day during the week for diving.

We also continuously run additional training courses, this weekend we have 10 divers completing their search and recovery course.

If you want any more information please feel free to PM me.

    Thomas.
