That's good news alright, it seems like this is only in Ireland am I correct, no mention of it on the UK site.

If a UK subscriber has Sky Sports and ESPN it still works out cheaper for them

yes its still cheaper in the uk.... sky sports full pack 20pounds extra and ESPN 9pounds.. total 29 pounds or around 32.50euro at the current exchange rate.
sky sports pack here is 34 euro.... so really they are not giving you ESPN free.. you are just paying the same as the UK.. a clever marketing ploy...

So what they have done is use the amount they have been overcharging us by to pay for ESPN - effectively. Of course in the UK you would have the option not to take ESPN and get Sky Sports for £20. We don't get that choice.

Still don't have them in Greystones Co Wicklow. Letter I got from SKY said it would be effective from tomorrow.

It is better than nothing and and an admittance by Sky/ESPN that they misjudged the discerning Irish Punters! Also an admittance they were trying to rip us off and ultimately failed.

Having said that I would need a good deal to subscribe to skysports again, I am used to not having it now and still have so much other stuff to watch am not sure how I ever found time to watch sky sports so often.

I wonder how these things get rolled out. Obviously not flick of a switch. We've had it on both boxes, HD + non HD, since yesterday. HD looks crispy clear. My son was watching baseball yesterday eve asking me the teams / rules! Will have to educate myself.
