Robbed at lunch time

Totally sickened... Myself and my girlfriend were having lunch in Dublin city ( i don't want to add the name of the restaurant because it's a great place and I don't want people to think they'll get robbed there ), when a lady sat in the seat next to us. I noticed she was moving around a lot and acting a little strange so being the man I am I started hoping she would leave... So to my then relief she left without ordering anything. When herself checked her handbag about 20 minutes later her purse and mobile were nicked. First time in 7 years of living in Dublin have I ever experienced this or even heard of it happening.. Anyone else got a similar story?

Lurking on boards so long it seemed like an apt name for my first topic.. I wish I robbed her, I'd have a ladies driving license and my old phone back!

Have you contacted her phone company to get the phone blocked?

Any cameras in or around the restaurant/café?

Should be easily able to find the woman and recognize her if you asked around for clips.

yeah, she sorted that straight away. Worried most about her bank cards and Id.

Cafe doesn't have a camera but the area does and a security guard. He texted her phone a message saying they had her on camera but I'm sure the thief took out the sim card straight away.

Ring the bank and cancel the card

Can you PM the name of the cafe/rest? Its obviously a target for sucessful thieves. Just so I know to keep my guard up.

This sounds very feckin' familiar. I seem to recall someone else posting something like this a while ago.

    Sorry for your loss though.

Actually, I went to see the Dublin-Kildare match a couple of weeks ago and some rat scum on a bicycle grabbed a guy's wallet as he walking down the street. Makes me sick.

I'll pm on the place but honestly believe things like this very rarely happen there. It's probably my favourite lunch spot in Dublin so I don't want it getting a bad name.

I reckon the thief is a creature of habit and will more than likely return to the scene of the crime to try it again.

    Keep an eye out.

Although I doubt your other half has a hope in hell of getting her things back.

Hopefully she is because I'm in there at least once a week and one of the lads working there spotted her as well. We were hoping she just took the money and phone and threw the rest in the bin, but had a quick look around ( didn't want to explore the bins too much ) without any luck.

    There's a lesson there:

If someone acting strangely in your personal space or in a position to steal from you, they are either going to molest you, beat you or rob you and you need to blast them with piss before they do.

This sucks OP. I hope you catch this person.

Can you tell us the area of dublin (not the exact address or restaurant) and let us know what this woman looked like?

I was going to use my stink glands on her but thought it might put everyone off there lunch.

It was in Dublin 2, she was a fairly normal looking lady ( apart from the moving around a bit too much ) blonde hair, jeans, red top nothing unusual about her.

It's only 99% of Roma who give the rest a bad name.

Forgot to say the cafe gave us our lunch on the house. Even after I insisted on paying because the theft had nothing to do with them. Great bunch in there.

Has he specified if the woman had a moustache? We can't rule out Roma involvement until that's mentioned.

Ah yes, the old I'm-going-to-go-robbing-looking-like-a-Roma-Gypsy-Woman because, you know, targets would never suspect a Roma Gypsy woman fidgeting next to a handbag of doing anything untoward.

Fuck me - the lack of logical thought in some folk.

Blonde hair, blue jeans? I think I may have a suspect for you. No mention of a red top though...

A cousin of mine got her handbag stolen before while she out. I am not sure whether it was a bar or café, but definitely one of the 2. The culprit was spotted on camera doing it, hopefully this thing will get caught.

Maybe keep an eye out for her trying to get some heroin?

OP will you please tell us the name of the place? If it is somewhere I go I'll still go there but I'll be keeping an eye out. Chances are she does this a lot so you would be helping us a lot by telling us where it happened!

How did she manage to rob stuff out of your girlfriends handbag while ye were sitting down in a restaurant??

Did ye go for a quickie in the jacks and leave the handbag unattended, was that it?
