Just looking at the map of NCT locations in the country, very strange the amount of test centres in counties, why does Donegal have 4 and similar populated counties only have 1? Then you have somewhere as big in population and size as Galway and it only has 2 serving it. Are the centres in the large cities able to handle huge amounts of cars and those in the smaller populated areas reduced capacity? Any centres I have spotted on my travels seem to be the same size.

Ah there's a difference in size alright, Charleville is tiny (not sure if it's one or two entrances), Blarney is twice the size at least, taking Cork as an example. I'm guessing Donegal has 4 "charlevilles".
Abbeyfeale, Limerick, Nenagh are all about the same size - 3 lanes IIRC, maybe this is the standard size?

    Geographic spread I would imagine.
No one wants to be more than an hour from an NCT centre, nor should they be.
