Are you looking forward to the Christmas?
    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

I can't STAND this Irish thing of putting the word "the" before "Christmas"! The Christmas? WTF? It doesn't even make sense and irritates me more each year. I manage to forget about it from January to October but you've just brought the rage right back. Grrrr.

And now they say you won't be able to drive between any two junctions on the M50 without being tolled for it.

Where in the name of Jasus it is all going to end? I wouldn't be that surprised if I woke up tomorrow morning to find that the country had fallen into the sea overnight and there was salt water lapping around under my bed.

And rightly so. It's not like there have been problems with the system that's already in place so I can see no reason not to roll it out to every junction. Also it'll keep ye Dublin folk from gettin' richer than the rest of us.

This country is a joke, but at least the new government will save us all. If it moves, tax it. If it doesn't move, tax it. If it's already taxed, ream it. If it can't be taxed, tax something else and call it a recovery plan.

It's a tax on Dublin people ffs, the M50 is as critical to any person living in the Dublin surburbs, as a country boreen or main road through a provincial town is to someone living down the country.

One get's taxed for having the audacity to drive a mile on their local road, the other doesn't, go figure that one out!:mad::mad: This government are a shower of cupping funts.

In the 80s, there was the threat of nuclear war, effectively no internet access & for a lot of the country only RTE on the box.

There was no such thing as the internet and so not having it didnt arise and when you only ever had RTE then you didnt know any better. Correct there was a threat of nuclear war and i remember being worried that it would all kick off between the US and russia but thankfully it didnt....but i dont remember wet summers or bad winters through the 70's & 80's like we have now. Things IMO are considerably worse now, recession is worse, the weather is considerably worse, we now only have one season....winter. You'd think we'd be used to it at this stage but i dont think i'll ever get used to it!

Believe me, I luuuurve Christmas and find it sufficiently fun, as is. It's the constant overuse of a highly unnecessary definite article with it that grates :p
