All I can get on that link you provided is this:

"ESPN brings you even more live and exclusive Premier League plus FA Cup, SPL and great international football:
Sky Sports 1, Sky Sports 2, Sky Sports 3
Sky Sports 4, Sky Sports News
    ESPN, ESPN America
    €46 extra per month
With any basic Sky TV package"

Can you be more specific, please?

Its a bit unfair that the offer doesn't apply to existing customers.

Sky seem to spend all their time conjuring up new offers to tempt in new subscribers but keep existing subscribers paying the same sub.

EDIT: I checked the Sky link too and there was no mention of the ESPN offer but on the link for the digitalspy forum one user said the offer wouldn't be published till 19th July.

I don't see why Sky would care. You will continue to pay regardless.

    Maybe so.

But I don't see why if someone has been with Sky for a number of years, subscribes to Sky Sports and ESPN but yet a new customer gets ESPN free for the football season (if it's true).

All Sky are doing is encouraging people to cancel and resubscribe as a new customer under a different name - which I thought they didn't allow. Or ring up and threaten to cancel in order to get a better deal.

Surely they should offer better incentives to existing, long-term and loyal customers? (I know they have a price freeze at the moment and are planning a one HD sub for the whole house - which is good.)

Upc are offering Espn as part of the digital select extra pack (€32).

Hopefully sky will include Espn at no extra cost when you subscribe to sky sports 1 and 2 for their long term customers.

The Sky website says ALL Sky Sports 1+2 customers will have ESPN (and HD) from JULY 22

i wonder what the actual irish level of epsn subscribers is at the moment? probably not that significant. they must have worked it out that they can get more revenue from sky per month as part of sky sport here.
setanta now is the only stand out not available as part of a sky package... will they be next?

The FAQ states that if you are an existing sky sports customer you will get ESPN at no extra cost after the 22nd and if you already pay for ESPN along with Sky Sports then you will stop paying for it after the 22nd.

I will definitely get sky sports back now - this was one of UPC's advantages over Sky for football fans but that is now gone.

Cool this is great. I had noticed Sky sports news promoting upcoming pre-season friendlies on ESPN. Dont think they did this last season. Also I can get ESPN on the Sky mobile App even though I dont subscribe.

The 22nd of July or August?

Just looking at my online billing and I've been charged the €12 for ESPN for the August period. Must give them a ring.

Is it definitely for existing customers? I had Sky Sports installed on the 11th and quite frankly I'd feel a little short-changed at a free ESPN offer the next bloody week if it doesn't apply to me too!

I just rang SKY CS & they don't know anything about the change yet so I would check your next bill & look for a refund if charged.

What is the full Sports pack? I have Sky Sports 1,2,3,4 and news. Does that count?

That is the full Sky Sports pack so you'll get the free ESPN.

That's great news about the ESPN :)

Rang Sky today about the free 2 months movies offer (which the guy on the phone couldn't apply to my account) and he gave me ESPN free for 3 months-he didn't know about this offer.
Anyhow saves me ringing in 2 months to cancel if I was to be charged.:D

For starters ESPN isn't going to be free. It is being included in the Sky Sports subscription if you have the full Sky Sports package.

I don't see how this will have any effect on ESPN's UFC contract. UPC and Virgin Media both offer ESPN to subscribers of some packages at no extra cost.

They're letter confirms that it does include hd if you are a hd subscriber. Nice. Also got the free movies during the week. Just remember to unsubscribe from it after a month as 30 days notice is required so if you leave it until the two months are nearly up, then you will be charged for another month.

We have had the Sky Sports package in for a long time now. We recently got in HD, so got rid of ESPN to balance it out ( They were the same price ). So as far as I am concerned I will be getting it for free, along with what I am already paying for.

espn are probably getting paid through sky and the sky sports subscriptions that people pay for. it isn't free, you have to subscribe to a full package.

Sky don't show the UFC so I fail to see how they will start charging for it. Who knows if the next UFC contract will include PPV. Until the current deal runs out there will be no PPV.
