Buying Wooden Flooring in the USA...

I am pricing wood flooring at present and I think I have decided to go with jatoba wood. It is working out remarkably expensive, should I purchase it in Ireland... however, it seems to be MUCH cheaper, if purchased in the United States.

I was just wondering if anyone had purchased something like this (wooden flooring/tiles/mosaics etc) from the USA and had them shipped to Ireland?

There is a website I have found that provides you an American address and then re-directs your purchase to Ireland, if the floor provider does not ship worldwide.

To anyone who might have experience of buying bulk items in the USA-
did it work out as cheap as I seem to think it could?! Was it difficult to arrange? What happened with regard to VAT etc, when it arrived into Dublin?

Jatoba would flooring is working out at around E60 per sq foot, whereas I have seen it for less than $10 per sq foot in the USA... so you can see why I am interested!!

    Thanks!

Bringing is stuff from the US isn't that complicated, but costs to be borne are:.....shipping from wherever you buy, to Port of Export, Freight, Customs Duty, VAT, Clearance Fees and Delivery to you this side. It all adds up.

I'm struggling to think though that the comparison you say above is accurate: for instance, we usually quote in this country in metre's (but floor shops still use yard's... ), whereas the US use per sq ft. That's a factor of approx 10 in the difference - are you sure that's not what's going on ?

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
