Just a quick question in relation to advantages (if any) of having a 20'' barrel over a 16'' barrel in .17 caliber Is it just case of the 16'' barrel being more compact or at 16'' inches is the mv/me less and if so will it be by much in terms of fps, ft lbs etc? The main point being I have one ordered, just wanted to know…

There are issues with the legality of short barrels on rifles and shotguns jimmy, it's come up in discussion before here and here and here and here and here.

Long story short ('scuse the pun), if you shorten a rifle or shotgun barrel to under 50cm (for rifles) or 60cm (for shotguns) in Ireland then you are breaking the law. But if you buy one from outside of Ireland that already has a shorter barrel than the legal limit, then nobody knows whether or not your licence is valid or whether you're breaking the law. We'd need a judge to rule on it in the HC to sort it all out.

According to varmintal.com, you get 2515 fps from a 20 inch and 2492 fps from a 16 inch

Ordered the 16'' in .17, should be here in a few weeks, need a bit more range than the ol .22!
