Hiya welcome on board :-) the forum is great for motivation and tips I found it a month ago and it's been really helpful. There are a few helpful apps too if u have android or iPhone. I use 'my score plus' for iPhone to track my food on the go and find it really handy

    hi all!

regular lurker here, i think you're all great.. you are all helping me with your tips and advice. i check this every day. its like having 7 mini meetings during the week! lol

I'm the same as lainy this week in particular. have a chest infection the past fortnight even though im finished my antibiotics it still won't budge:mad: so cannot exercise whatsoever!

I've noticed with myself being very silly with my weeklies.. its like i just go through them for no reason each week, and a lot of the time on junk. so by the 2nd day of my week they are all gone. have to stop cos im going ovr my 29 by 1 or 2 each day.
    anyone else have this problem??

To say I'm a bit deflated today is an understatement!! I had my over the phone weigh in this morning (I weigh, phone it in etc). This is my 2nd weigh in, last week 3lbs, today 1lb W.T.F.!! I have over 4st to lose so I'm not someone who hasn't much to lose. I have been meticulous in following the P.P. plan, calculating points, drinking lots of water etc. My leader said when I read out my food diary over the phone that some days I wasn't using enough points (should be 30, some days only 24-26) but still 4lbs in 2 weeks with my size is frustrating to say the least. HELP/ADVICE/COMFORT even!!!!

Millee, I lost 6.5 my first week and then the last three weeks it's been 1.5 each week. It was driving me INSANE, I also have at least 4stone to lose - I started at over 16 stone. 4lbs in two weeks is fantastic, I've started looking at a pound in a different light - a pound of meat in the butchers is a serious amount of weight. That's one less pound that you are carrying around. 4 pounds is brilliant, imagine the weight of 4lbs of meat or 4lbs of butter - that's 4lbs GONE from your body and that's absolutely fantastic. If you keep it up at a steady 1-2lbs a week, it will take longer, but it will also be easier to maintain in the long run. You'd be putting serious pressure on yourself to expect 3-4lbs every week - it took a long time to put it on, it'll take a while to get rid of it. Look at it this way - if you lose 4lbs every two weeks from now until Christmas, that will be 40lbs gone!! You're doing brilliantly, don't lose heart and don't give up! Best of luck for this week xx

yes please :D i have a voucher for a place in town that sells gormet chorizo and sausage! would love to use it but have no ww healthy recipes to use chorizo in :D

Hi guys! Lady Lainy your chorizo request inspired me to post! I never post here but I seem to suddenly have a whole bunch of people I love on weightwatchers, and I as love cooking and am supposed to be writing a second cookbook I wanted to know what to cook for ww friends and what to avoid and how the whole propoints thing works. All I can say is you are absolute geniuses for figuring it out! I spent about an hour pointing one damn soup :o

I cooked this recipe for said friends the other day as they're bored senseless with what they were eating, I like the way with weightwatchers you can still eat everything in moderation, it's much more fun to cook for (and eat) than no carb :D Here's the recipe, sorry the image isn't the best:

    2h6wqcn.jpg

    100g chorizo. finely chopped
    1 tbsp olive oil
    1 onion, finely chopped
2 sticks of celery, finely chopped,
3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
    250ml tomato passata
1 tin of chickpeas, rinsed & drained
1L veggie stock, or water with a good stock cube thrown in
    250g spinach
Freshly ground black pepper and sea salt

Cook the chorizo, onion, celery & garlic on a low-medium heat in a saucepan with the lid on. After 15 minutes throw in everything else except the spinach, add lashings of pepper and a pinch of salt. Bring it to the boil, then lower the heat and simmer with the lid on for 40 minutes.

When the soup is ready take out half the mixture and puree. Pour it back into the soup pot, stir it up and season. Just before you’re about to eat get the soup to piping hot and throw in the spinach, mix it up until the spinach is just wilted. Yum.

I think I've figured out the propoints by finding the nutritional value for each thing on http://caloriecount.about.com/ and then putting the results into this calculator: http://points.ogo.ms/ It's 38 propoints and feeds 4 generous helpings, so 9ish points each. Does that sound right? The nutritional stats according to the website are:

    1 tbsp olive oil:Protein:0 Carbs:0 Fat:27.5g Fibre: 0.
    100g chorizo: Protein:24g Carbs:1.9g Fat:39g Fibre: 0
    1 onion: Protein:0 Carbs:1 Fat:0 Fibre:0
    Celery: Protein:0 Carbs:1.8g Fat: 0 Fibre: 0
    Tomato passata: Protein:2.4g Carbs:9.6g Fat: 1g Fibre: 0
    1 can of chickpeas: Protein:24g Carbs: 100g Fat:4g Fibre:17g
    250g spinach: Protein: 8.1g Carbs: 10.3g Fat: 1.1g Fibre: 6.2g

Sorry for the long post! x

That soup looks amazing! I just made one from one of the Cook Smart WW books that is also very yummy. Rosemary and Cannellini soup. The annoying thing about those books is that you have to recalculate the pp values. This one had 5.

I used up all my weeklies on wine this week. After losing 5 pounds last week, I'm sure there will be nothing happening Tuesday. But at least we danced for hours the other night. That's got to make up for something!

How do I get added to the weight loss Excel sheet? Or am I too late?

Just PM GT_TDI_150 your starting weight and then after this Saturday, PM him your loss. Your starting weight will be what you weigh after WI on Tuesday.

Lainy they really are quite filling and delish good luck!but taking hints from them for cooking your own is better than relying on them too much as quite expensive!

Afternoon all....well im having a good day. Just on bus home. Stocked up on half a dozen. Of the count on us meals...they look and sound really nice....and the points arw quite reasonable...they would do nicely with side salad or one could even add bit of extra rice or pasta....and I got thru all of town without caving and getting my large skinny latte for 4pp instead .god and drank full litre of water.

Breakfast was a bit...annoying tho. Was running late so grabbed a sandwich in deli. At 11. Thick clice bread. I.m giving it 14pp but it was huge and filling....so it was worth it if it actually kept me satisfied

I'm leaving for America tomorrow for a month! I'm doing a trip from NY-LA so here's hoping I don't put back on all the weight I lost! America isn't exactly known for its healthy eating:o

Hi if you go into local corner stores rather then the likes of 7-11 you will find that the ones who have deli's attached sometimes have a pick and mix section with lots of chopped fresh fruit washed salads and meat choices also sushi type foods..if eating in diners( better then the chains ie Mc Don) look for the light bite section or if having breakfast ask for just egg white's scrambled or oatmeal(porridge) most will alter what can be altered if asked and bring all dressings on the side or give a side salad with most meals in local neighbourhood places. If getting a bagel ask for a smear when getting chream chesse and the will just put on a litttle if not the will slap half a tub on

The golden rule with eating in the states is ask and you will receive if you think you will be eating in place regulary tip well on day one and the will be even more helpfull

when getting drinks in pubs they will always have diet coke or juices to mix with the shorts

Just relax and enjoy and dont stress to much and enjoy your trip and watch the portions

Wow, I'm so jealous. That's a trip I would love to do. My husband & I plan to do it when he retires - if there is such a thing as a tax free lump sum on retirement by then - so that's in about 25 years!

I have been so hungry these last few days - which isn't really like me. I usually get the odd hungry day, but now it has been 3 in a row. I've a pot of soup on at the moment to try & fill me up. The weather is so miserable here, so that's not helping either as I can't get out. Hope everyone is having a better day than me. I hope this hunger goes away as I only have 7 weeklies left!

It is possible to eat healthily in America, as long as you don't give in to temptation all the time! Most restaurants have healthy choices on their menus. Grocery stores also have good salad bars, etc.

Enjoy the trip! Wish I could go back home, even for a couple of weeks.

Well this week I reached a few personal milestones.

    1. It's more usual for a woman to comment that you have lost weight and that you're looking well. I've been having comments like those for a few months now - which is really encouraging. But I had told myself that until a man (one that I wasn't related to) commented on my weight I wouldn't get too excited. Well last week on two separate occasions 2 different male colleagues commented on my weight loss and said I was looking well. I did a little inner victory dance!

    2. I've been doing the couch to 5k fitness regime and have been taking it slow and steady. I figured that I wasn't really doing it right because, well, because it was actually fairly easy! I had thought exercise was supposed to be incredibly painful and exhausting. But yesterday I jogged for 28 minutes solid without a break. Ok, I know I'm not sprinting but I have to give myself a pat on the back for that achievement!

    3. Today I went to fun fitness with my son - it's a giant indoor jungle gym with slides and ball pits and wobbly bridges etc - you get the picture. A few months ago I would have just watched from the sidelines but today, there I was, climbing, sliding, & squirming. My bum in the air, on my knees, hair all over the place, not a care in the world, enjoying the fact that I wasn't A: sweating profusely, B: pulling on my clothes to cover my tummy/thighs/arms and C: wasn't getting STUCK in the children's sized tunnels!

Only down half a pound this week and I was disappointed but the 3 big achievements above have spurred me on and are keeping my spirits up for the rest of this week.

Hi all.. Just wanted to say hi. Im newish to these boards (joined back in 2007 but only posted a couple of times) and was recommended this one by my friend. Im getting married in Malta in October this year and am trying to lose weight. Its the hardest thing i've ever had to do. I started WW last year after we got engaged and was doing quite well, losing on average 2lb a week. Money got tight so i thought id do it from home and just weigh myself- Of course it never happens like that !! I am walking 8km most days and have toned up a lot but i still have such a long way to go. I have at least 3 stone to lose !! Im determined now with 11 weeks to go to lose what i can so im back following the WW diet from home and getting weighed once a week in the chemist. The pro point system is different from what i used last year so im kind of stuck on it. I've been searching the net all day yesterday and this morning for recipies etc. And I have downloaded the iphone App to help me track. My friend has told me my new daily points allowance is 34. Im 5.7" and weight 216lb (15stone 4lb - eek).. Any advice/tips/menu's/encouragment would be so appreciated.. :)

So fantastic weekend just gone. Best friend came over to visit. Her and Boyf had massive fight. He made her cry then stormed off home. She was really upset and I felt like a complete piggy in the middle. Got very drunk, went dancing and now have suspected whip lash from all the headbanging I did... Negative, Probably drank aboout 7 months worth of weeklies in one day. Positive- danced for about 5 hours straight and didn't eat anything unhealthy. Overall outcome- Definitely not the best weekend I've ever had and goodness knows what my WI will be like tomorrow. I am headed off for a long weekend in Paris on Thursday though with all my girlfriends so can at least look forward to that and boyf has been on superbest behaviour since his disgraceful behaviour on Sat. Ok rant over, just needed to get it all off my chest.

We dont have M&S here in Limerick and I was wondering what other supermarkets sell WW products??? I always shop in Dunnes and they have a limited variety. Can anyone recommend another supermarket with good choice of low ppts foods and snacks.
