Maps from what I gathered. I too like verticality, but not to the extent of Kowloon, more like Afghan/Terminal

aye, 2-3 stories is plenty, if it was just flat gameplay it'd be boring pretty quickly

The :) was for the gun on gun combat being a central focus again.

Terminal is a 2 story map.

Ambush, Backlot, Bloc, Broadcast, Chinatown, Broadcast (similar to Terminal), Chinatown (3 story), Creek (similar to Afghan), Killhouse, Crash (3 story), Crossfire, District, Downpout, Overgrown, Pipeline, Showdown, Strike and Wetwork all have vertical elements in it in some shape or form.

I think Kowloon is a great map, just far too big for non-ground war games.

From what I gathered, it's not verticality that's entirely the problem, but the things surrounding it in MW2. It played too much of an impact on maps. For example Terminal which you know I love. Say in Sabotage, if you spawn in the upper tier of the map. It was far too easy to dominate. Likewise Favela, Afghan, etc.

Bit like Summit in BOPS really. There was a lack of symmetry in many MW2 maps too, and BOPS.

I suppose it's not the verticality they should be looking to balance but the assymetry, C spawn on Estate, no coming out of it.

Wasteland is only boring if you can't hit a target at distance! ;)

I'm feeling very meh about MW3 lately. Its all to do with Mr. Bowling too. He just has an air of ''mehness'' about him. He is transubstantiating his mehness into my enthusiasm for this game.

    He is like a more annoying version of CliffyB . . . . . . . . . Only because I think he is copying him . . . . . .

If they manage to get the balance right between COD 4 and MW2 it will be exceptional. Thats a big, big if.

Vacant is a terrific COD4 map! Tbf, it was a bizarre decision to include it in MW2.

Why is that though.. and be honest?

edit - here's a clue, for the majority, if MW2 was simply Barebones entirely. Wasteland would be despised.

    Easy n00kz

I quite liked Wasteland, one of the maps where sniping excels.

Ding, ding, ding, ding and ding. We have a winner.

You know me, I absolutely despised that map going all the way back to the original in COD2 as I mentioned before! I could never do consistently well there. My kryptonite map along with Estate! But as you indicated, air support on the map for anybody but me (-_-) was pure destruction. Always second guessing myself on those maps for whatever reason.

BUT every COD needs a map like that, it's good to have a change of pace and different scenery and as you said, one for snipers.

I like Wasteland as its a great lightweight map, people arent expecting someone to come bombing across a map with a shotgun :pac: just stay out of the bunker and make your way around the outskirts and you can kick ass.

I hope they keep the sightlines like MW2, there are tons of them all over the map, if its the same 4-5 places it'll get kind of dull, taking away the idea you can get shot from any angle is kinda odd tbh.

Yeah. I tended to stick to the middle and pick up the scraps(noobs) who kept going through there both in MW2 and COD2, if not the trenches entry points near each spawn.

But when I did skirt the edges I usually had little luck.

Played S&D on Wasteland recently. Team planted bomb. Shot 4 snipers coming through the tunnel Got 5 of them in all and a shiny new predator for the next round :)
Have to agree it wouldn't be my favourite map but kinda miss it if it hasn't come up in a while or keeps getting voted off.

IT SHOULD BE ME MAKING THOSE GUN VIDEOS!!!!!!!!!!!! :pac:

Good god i made it four and a half mins in before i became completely and utterly bored to death of listening to dam stats, auto sum java aplets and heat maps..... elite is the complete opposite of what cod is about. I play cod to get away from ****e like that.

    Ouuuuu, stats..... thrilling.

I just cant wait for multiplayer reveals and activision can stop trying to spend days on end harping on about elite which frankly can be summed up in ten mins.... ya know the stuff that cod is intresting for. Its starting to smell a lot now like they have shown as much single player as they want to right now, have ages to go til they reach their MP reveal date and despretly need something to talk about to keep cod in the gaming news so they continually rehash interviews telling us the same boring stuff about the same boring elite.

We want gameplay reveals not "look at these stats" , if they have nothing to say about the actual game they shouldnt say anything more until they do.

    But...the heatmaps, the heatmaps!

yeah I dont care either, having a gawk at kills with certain guns and your overall ratios is one thing, going through .1 of percentages and studying maps? fcuk that I'd rather be in playing the game thats how you become better.

And teasing ****e like this out for the last 2 months and another 2 months down the road is wayyyyy to much time that should be devoted (in PR terms) to something like this. Considering what they COULD be showing us... stat tracking is an extremely poor substitute.

To an extent, yes. But it is theater in Black Ops actually what will make you much better (or a HD PVR for other COD). I'm surprised some of the folks here don't occasionally use it more. Not saying to watch every game, but to fast forward through certain parts and compare to the stronger players. COD is very easy, but people make life tough on themselves and then complain at their scores.

I think Jugg should have been in MW2 to balance out Stopping Power. Except it wouldn't apply to snipers

It can be at times, depends on the gamemode, now Ground War is usually you dying through no fault of your own by being bombarded with random tubes, stuff like Hardcore TDM is much slower paced and more gun on gun.

I find the best way to learn the maps is start a private match on your own and just explore, checking the sightlines from windows and the like. Playing COD is a constant learning experience, check that corner, theres always a guy in that window, dont go through the tunnel of death etc. If you just take a step back and slow down the pace you play its monumentally easier.

mw3 better not be all over the place like mw2 i.e too much happening at once, also choppers and the likes shouldn't count towards your killstreak that was just beyond stupid from infinity ward.

after watching the beta walk through i have to say it looks sh*t.

Fast paced games like MW2 and CoD4 are MUCH!!!!!! better than black ops, black ops is so slow paced that it makes the game nearly like playing paintings.

I think COD4 is slower than MW2 but only because there isnt as much air support up, its the right balance imo, loads of running and gunning and the occasional chopper or airstrike, theres nothing worse than being spawn trapped on MW2 having the enemy team have two harriers and a chopper gunner up you're being hit with predators and airstrikes and everything else and your dumbass teammates wont change to cold blooded so even though you do in an attempt to shoot down the support you're getting mauled as you're spawning around the red squares the chopper can see.

I'd love if MW3 went back to 3-5-7 or have a choice of 5-7-9 and they didnt build to each other, it'd be just right, support is rewarded instead of being simple to get, I got 3 ac-130s in 3 games last night, two of them were from 4 kills with hardline on and a SCAR-H, thats ridiculous.
