All foreign movies banned in China

A film has just been released in China called "The Founding of the Party" or "The Beginning of the Great Revival".

For at least one month and not until it has made over $120m dollars will they allow any foreign film releases. Reportedly it cost $12m to produce.

State employees are being bought tickets to go see the movie.
Many cinema's are giving tickets for this movie regardless of what film you want to watch and then manually changing it after. This is to hit the quota as soon as possible so they can release the likes of Harry Potter and Transformers 3.

    rottentomatoes gives it 17%
imdb gives it 2.1/10 (imdb is banned in china since "7 years in Tibet").

My point? Buy tickets now (early and often) so I can see foreign movies again please.

Should be a good return on investment.

Ouch, that's like having a no 'skip ad' button when waiting watching to watch an online video.

It's advertised as having 150 top actors, and the runtime is 140 minutes. How did they squeeze them all in?

Well mikeem you just made me get Suzhou River and Let the Bullets Fly. Looking forward to both. I suppose I'll have to find a nice Chinese girl to watch them with now..

Then I can watch the likes of Harry Potter in Ireland with a fat bird next week during my trip home. Great.

What other films are involved in this project? Do you have a list?
