Hey just looking for some input here ,

what would or have you done with a socially inept friend ?

I have this friend he's absolutely harmless pretty nice guy but he ends up ruining nights and parties by talking about the same three things over and over again and its gotten to the point where people wont invite him to stuff and he's started to notice , so theres a choice between inviting him much to the chagrin of others and not inviting him and feeling like a horrible two faced prick especially after reading through the "have you ever been to the funeral of someone who commit suicide" thread

so what would y'all do ?

Does he drink and ramble on or something?

he'll have about 4 cans and yes ramble on and on and won't get another person a word in edgewise

Whenever he repeats a topic just punch him in the nuts.

    He'll soon catch on.

If he is starting to notice that hes not being invited out then maybe you could tell him why. Put it nicely though - dont say 'you are an irritating s**t'
    :D

I also know a guy like that, but he left the country, so I chalk that up as a win too.

Probably telling him is the best thing in the long run, and he'll eventually understand why you told him.

I have a friend that wrecks everyones heads. We do be talking in a group and he'll just talk at one person, usually me, about something he told me a half hour ago. So while you're trying to pay attention to the big conversation and be sociable he's nattering in the other ear. Many a time I wanted to punch him in the throat so I could continue socialising uninterrupted.

I HATE it when people do this. It's very annoying.

LSD-spiked Canapés will do the trick here... out of curiosity, what are the three topics? I'm guessing WW2 features there somewhere.

Don't do what I did... Type a text to send to a friend talking about how this person was rambling on and on... And send it to the person you are talking about... *facepalms*

You're thinking of abandoning your friend because others don't like him?

You're not much of a friend.

Sounds like a fun guy imho

Maybe you could have a "Not talking about war, yokes or your dad" themed party and invite him as the guest of honour. He'll get the idea.

Buy him an Encyclopedia and encourage him to read it.

It will increase his knowledge and allow him to broaden his conversational topics.

Get him to log onto Wikipedia if you don’t want to splash out on an Encyclopedia.

Maybe one of his topics of conversation is his christmas card collection and how you should pop around to his house one night one night to look at them .

Now who wouldn't find that interesting ?

Most people I know, myself included talk a lorrah lorrah shoite when they're drunk but it tends to be about a wide range of subjects.

I knew a guy that's like the OP's friend but all he talked about was guns, WOW, Sci-Fi, and when he got really drunk, about how nobody pays attention to him.
