ISIC card and student discount with Iarnrod Eireann

    Folks,

    Would anyone know if you need a travel card to obtainstudent fares with Iarnrod Eireann or will the ISIC suffice. Anybody have any experience?

    I think most it/university ID cards are good, check their website

    You need the student travel card for the train. Nothing else is accepted.

    A student travel card is required for all student tickets, school or college issued ID is not accepted. there is a €100 penalty fare for not having one.

    my bad I thought it was Bus Éireann

    the train people seem to call themselves irish rail these days - the irish language map on my train home mentioned to look at Irishrail.ie for more information

    Its legally known as both - Iarnród Éireann wasn't the most spellable website name though.
