i originally found this on another forum i read. But i found it quite horrifying

Ripper IRC Suicide

to get the jist before you read all those logs =

You know, for some reason i have been paying a lot of attention
to this event. I didn't really know the guy to well, but we
talked. I feel bad that he only lived til age 21.
He died chatting on IRC. Talking in a channel he frequented and allowed
his overdose to be seen on a webcam. I don't think he wanted to die.
I can only imagine how the people that witnessed this horrifying
event felt after they realized he was really dead.
I wish I had been there... I would have called...
what must they be thinking now?

"What could I have done to stop him?"

"What could I have done if I would have known he was serious?"

some very serious stuff if true

It is possible.

It has occured many many times before (people commiting and attempting suicide online).

Something about this smacks of urban legend in the making though..things about it don't add up for me.

Welcome to the Digital age. Now with the advent of phones with built in cameras and soon with built in video cameras and increased net access speeds on these phones you'll find more guerilla style journalism and more weird but real stuff like this being posted.

No harm in a way that big media will have serious competition but the amount of ****ed up vid clips and things like this will exponentially increase too.

Logs are pretty freaky to read.
the guys that were on the channel at the time were indeed

From what I gathered, he wasn't out to kill himself, he was just some fu<ktard with a big bag o' drugs trying to be cool.

I use irc everyday and if someone came on saying they were munching their way through a bag of drugs for sh1ts 'n giggles i'd laugh, quite honestly.

Totally lame. Wouldn't surpise me at all if it's a hoax.

There was a girl on livejournal who took an overdose in her bathroom and had her webcam in there to watch her die. People who do that I would say are just serious attention seeking messed up people. If you were serious about killing yourself you wouldn't do it on a public forum.

Off topic, but in relation to the above quote, an image is bad enough. I was shown an mpeg clip of some "propoganda" footage of checyan rebels slitting the throat of a young, terrified russian soldier they captured.

The mpeg was only a few seconds long, but I can still picture it now. F*cking sick.

Poor kid was terrified, bound, and lying on the ground and they just plunged a knife into his throat and sawed it open

Something I never, ever want to see again /shudders/. How people can enjoy watching this sh*t I have no idea!

and if you read the post from his brother, i originally thought that the guy was a drug popping idiot, but after looking at the collage and the brothers post as i say its just someone who went down the wrong road of drugs, which as to quote

ive seen that video, although i didnt think it was a kid, the other soldier was also kneeling on his back to pin him down

some really sick stuff and i concur that the images still go through my head at times

(whats even worse is i was searching for some vids of a "sexual content" at the time

, talk about how to put you out of the mood)

Incredible what people will do for a bit of attention ...

I never saw the russian soldier thing ..dont want to either ... there was a movie that was disturbing (url in the broadband forum .. look at AC-130 or something like that) that shows some afganistan fellas getting the **** knocked out of them by an US airplane .. near the end you can see a guy getting blowing into two distinct bits ... (note: this is taken from the plane doing the blowing up so it is small and infrared, but its still easily visible)
